A growing number of credible sources are saying that the Congressional Super Committee mandated to cut $1.2 trillion from the spending by Thanksgiving will fail. The Republicans evidently put forth a compromise $545 billion proposal yesterday that was summarily rejected by the Democrats. Conservative activist Grove Norquist is suggesting that Democrats intend to purposefully sabotage the process so that Obama can blame the Republicans. Other sources are suggesting that the mandatory alternative, higher taxes and a cut in defense spending will not occur either.
COMMENTS:
I have said since day one that this would not work, that it
was just another stall tactic and that the Republicans were complicit in its
design and intent. We all know where
this country is going unless our budget is drastically trimmed. This is not something that can wait any
longer. Every Member of Congress has
abdicated their responsibility. We
should demand that they stay in session, 12 hours a day and seven days a week, through
the holidays and for as long as it takes, considering no other legislation,
until they trim the $4 trillion they were supposed to trim last August. Either that, or they should all resign right
now. I, for one, am through playing
their cat and mouse games.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What do you think about Syracuse? (Jerry ~ Hayfork, CA)
A. Even with Syracuse, there will be more horrible
disclosures in coming weeks. What a
sick, sick society we have allowed to evolve.
Q. In the House of Representatives, there was a proposal to
amend the Constitution to require a balanced budget and it failed. That means both the Democrats and the
Republicans refused to pass it.
Why? (Carmelita ~ Sacramento, CA)
A. Because both parties have made a conscious decision that
they do not want to be obligated to cut spending and cut the deficit. They are saying to us that they do not care
if we go over the cliff or not, they want to spend, spend, spend. And I ask you, do you have the guts to throw
the bastards out of office next year? This
is no laughing matter, you know, and it is about time that we take our country
back.
Q. What do you make of the Natalie Woods investigation? (Wanda ~ Tempe, AZ)
A. I was never satisfied with the coroner’s ruling of
accidental death. I always felt there
would be more to the story, especially after it came out that Woods and Robert
Wagner had been arguing long before that fateful night. I’m not suggesting deliberate murder, but
what if he pushed her during the argument and that’s when she fell
overboard? Maybe we shall now see.
