RON PAUL: TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN LIFE

Responding to a question from Wolfe Blitzer Monday night where a young man chooses not to buy insurance and ends up in a coma, Ron Paul essentially said that’s what freedom of choice is all about and you live by your choices.  The government has no responsibility for your choices.  He received rousing applause.

COMMENTS:
Why should I be forced to pay for your stupidity?  If I choose to give to charity or church and they help a guy like this, that’s one thing.  For the government to take the stand that I have to… by law am obligated to… kick in some of my money to help this guy out is flat-out stealing from me what I have worked so hard for to get. If you take care of yourself, I will take care of myself and we'll all get along fine... like we have for over 200 years.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What do you think about those anti-American demonstrations on 9/11 against the U.S. by radical Muslims living in the U.S.?  (George ~ Albany, CA)
A. They should be charged with giving aid and comfort to the enemy and removed from the country.

Q. What do you think would be an acceptable modification to Social Security?  (Myhren ~ Ontario, CA)
A. Double the payouts.  I’m a recipient; what did you expect me to say?  It will have to be modified, not for those on or approaching payout, but for the rest.  The big lie here which no one talks about is that the government raided the Social Security funds on a regular basis.  That figure should be paid back into the fund.  As it did in the Cobell case where it glommed onto hundreds of millions of dollars belonging to Indians and then mysteriously lost the accounting for those funds, I’m sure the government can’t tell us how much that is.  After it is paid back, then we can calculate the real shortfall and adjust on that basis.

Q. I read that they are thinking of changing the COLA by using the CPI instead.  What do you think?  (Barry ~ Redding, CA)
A. Why don’t they just take the TYRL and divide it by the DERT to come up with a GYTD they can apply to the CRYOUTLOUD?  Enough with the acronyms, okay? The cost of living adjustment is just what it says it is.  The consumer price index is only remotely associated with it and is usually less than the COLA.  All this talk is about is reducing the amount paid to military and social security retirees.  So, you are going to starve them all to death, but you’re going to be nice about it and do it slowly.  Isn’t that just swell?
