The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has denied an easement for
the contested and protested Dakota Pipeline under Lake Oahe, a Missouri River
reservoir. "Although we have had
continuing discussion and exchanges of new information with the Standing Rock
Sioux and Dakota Access, it's clear that there's more work to do," Assistant
Secretary for Civil Works Jo-Ellen Darcy said. "The best way to complete
that work responsibly and expeditiously is to explore alternate routes for the
pipeline crossing."
COMMENTS:
Thank God some common sense is prevailing. Christmas may be coming early for the Standing Rock
Sioux Tribe.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Pardon me, but I don’t understand. In order for a recount effort to prevail, Wisconsin,
Michigan and Pennsylvania… all three… had to have their Trump votes
overturned. Now, they’ve dropped
Pennsylvania from the recount project. So
why continue? (Jesus ~ Las Vegas, NM)
A. Because that’s what Hillary Clinton and Jill Stein
want. They probably also prefer caviar
with their Big Macs.
Q. Do you think Trump will go after Muslim America? (Spiffy ~ Chester, CA)
A. To the extent that he wants most American Muslims, the
peaceful ones, to stand up and turn out the radical ones, yes. We simply have to put an end to terrorism in
America.
Q. Do you think Trump’s interfacing with Taiwan will destroy
our relations with China? (Brittany ~
Bend, OR)
A. China’s economy is very fragile, and any downturn in
exports to the United States just might send them into a depression. That, in turn, could set off a world-wide
depression. I do not think, in the final
analysis, that China will continue to object. Like what emanates from the Oval Office, it's mostly static.
