ACORN RIDES AGAIN?

ACORN could be eligible for up to $3.99 billion in federal funding included in the $3.83 trillion fiscal 2011 budget President Obama unveiled last week! The money comes from a Congressional slush fund known as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. CDBG grants, which are awarded to states and localities, pass indirectly to ACORN.  On Dec. 8 the House Appropriations Committee rejected on a party line vote of 9 to 5 an amendment offered by Rep. Tom Latham (R-Iowa) that would have blocked federal funding of ACORN. And in December federal Judge Nina Gershon restored federal funding of ACORN by issuing a temporary injunction against the congressional funding ban.

A. With all of those people watching the game, I suspect Obama will want to preempt half-time with something to say. He just has to have his ugly mug in front of us every minute of the day, doesn’t he?

A. No. In fact, he lays the blame for the backlash on Rudy Giuliani and says Rudy has been squawking only for the purpose of making a political issue out of it. Well, it IS a political issue and we know who started it, don’t we Barack?

Q. There are more signs of economic recovery. Can’t we draw a deep breath? (Cyrus – New London, CT)
A. What the media has NOT been reporting is that big, big trouble is brewing overseas. Greece is on the verge of total economic collapse, for example. Many major countries have debt loads approaching 100% of their Gross Domestic Product. Moody’s is threatening to downgrade the U.S. credit rating. Things are very, very fragile and the whole house of cards could come crumbling down at any moment. It is actually getting worse rapidly, instead of better as Tim Geithner would like us to believe.
