California citizens are now paying 61 cents a gallon in
state gasoline taxes and there will be a 12 cent per gallon increase in
November, taking it to 73.2 cents per gallon… the second highest in the nation
right behind Pennsylvania. Add that to
18.4 cents in federal gas taxes plus county and local taxes and you’re at about
$1.00 per gallon.
COMMENTS:
Obviously, the Governor and his cohorts in the state
legislature need to pay back the unions who voted them in, but there’s an even
bigger catch: while they insist that the money will be used to pay for much
needed road and bridge work, they’re going to get billions from Trump’s infrastructure
plans to cover those costs, meaning they’ll use the new gas tax revenues to pay
for the boondoggle high-speed bullet train that everyone hates.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What’s this about Colorado banning cellphone for
pre-teens? (Dizzy ~ Helena, MT)
A. They’ve decided that it’s their duty to take over family
decisions because, in their opinions, kids just spend too much time on the phones. I understand that if they see a pre-teen with
a cell phone, both the parents and the store owner where the phone was
originally sold are going to have to pay a huge fine and maybe go to jail for a
very long time... maybe even Guantanamo.
Q. After all of her mishandling of classified materials,
Hillary Clinton may finally have her security clearance canceled? (Flip ~ Woodland, CA)
A. Yeah, you would think the feds would have pulled the
clearances for her and her staff long ago.
But, they’ve just recently opened an “inquiry” into the matter. Frankly, she should be in jail.
Q. Trump has indicated he might do something to North Korea in retaliation over
Otto Warmbier’s death. Do you have any
idea what that might entail without getting China involved? (Bernadette ~ Lacey, WA)
A. No, but I have a feeling it won’t be pretty.

“Nuclear doctrine consists of
thinking the unthinkable. It involves
making threats and promising retaliation that is cruel and destructive beyond
imagining. But, it has its purpose: to
prevent war in the first place.” ~ Charles Krauthammer
