A letter to residents from the Burney Water District is
circulating which purports to ask users of the system to shower only twice a
week.
COMMENTS:
I haven’t seen the letter; this was reported to me by a
trusted Burney resident. I could find no
mention of the letter by trying Google. I tried their website to see if I could
find board minutes discussing the issue, but for some reason the website links
are not functioning. The majority of
area residents work in vocations requiring physical labor. Presuming this report is correct and that
these people can only shower twice a week, I surely do not want to be standing
downwind of them after three days of labor.
In the meanwhile, golf courses in Palm Springs have plenty of
water.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What are your thoughts on the police officer shooting of
an unarmed man in North Charleston, South Carolina? (Barney ~ Tracy, CA)
A. One of the first things they teach you in a gun safety or
concealed weapons training course is that your shooting is justifiable only if
you are in fear for your life or the lives of others; therefore, if the target
is running away from you, he cannot be threatening your life. Secondly, you are only justified to keep on
shooting until the threat is stopped; generally one or two shots will send your
suspect to the ground if you know how to use your weapon. The officer fired eight shots at an unarmed
individual who was running away from him.
Yes, the officer should have been fired and he should never be able to
own or possess a gun again. And yes, he should be charged with
homicide.
Q. Why do you think Obama is meeting with Castro in
Cuba? (Carolyn ~ Berlin, WI)
A. He probably wants to strike a deal to give GITMO back to
Cuba and have them close that prison.
And he’ll probably sweeten the pot by giving Cuba $1 billion to tear the
prison down.
Q. Do you believe the report that 40 or more Americans who
served with I.S.I.S. are back in the U.S.?
(Xi ~ Monterrey Park, CA)
A. Yes, but don’t worry about it; they’re only members of
the J.V. team.
