Dominating the news of the country for the last few days has
been the story that an advance team member of the White House consorted with a
hooker in a Columbian Hilton Hotel different from the hotel where Secret
Service agents would consort with hookers a few days later. According to the reports, the White House acknowledged
the serious infraction internally, but issued orders to cover the “event” up
until after the 2012 elections.
COMMENTS:
Since when does a mundane hooker story and a denial trump
the more important stories of the day: Where is North Korea’s little tyrant;
why aren’t U.S. airstrikes against I.S.I.S. being effective; what is Russia
doing today in the Ukraine; does Assad still have chemical weapons; how close
to nuclear weapons technology is Iran; and what’s the latest news about the
Mexican border? Aren’t those issues far
more important than a sexual escapade? And
what about Benghazi, or Fast & Furious or the I.R.S. transgressions? Maybe the press and the media need a tube of
KY Jelly. Good God, you would think that the Obama Administration never covered anything else up.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. How do you feel about Glenn Beck saying we shouldn’t be
bombing in Iraq and Saudi Arabia? (Lynn
~ Lemoore, CA)
A. I agree with him to some extent. I believe that our current activities there
are an absolute farce and an exercise in futility; if Obama has no intentions
of cleaning I.S.I.S. up affirmatively, once and for all and inevitably
involving ground troops, we have no business wasting our time and money doing
what we are doing. On the other hand, we
can’t just sit here and wait for them to establish their caliphate and to
strike out against the world, including us.
So, in my judgment and in the eloquent words of Barry Goldwater, we
should either shit or get off the pot… either strike out with full and
convincing force and eliminate them, or stop this tommy-rot and start guarding
our borders. What we’re doing right now
is somewhat akin to shooting lions and tigers with slingshots, and playing golf.
Q. Kim Jong Un didn’t show up for the big festivities in
North Korea yesterday and there has been no explanation as to one now one month
absence. Do you think he’s been
unseated? (Wu ~ South San Francisco, CA)
A. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of the little
runt. If he was dead, we’d know by
now. It may be that he’s contracted some
nasty or debilitating disease and they don’t want the citizens to perceive
weakness in the leadership. He could
also be in rehab, or maybe he’s just become shy. We could
take up a collection and send him some Preparation H.
Q. Is it true that the Chinese just bought the Waldorf
Astoria and that they’ve been quietly buying up some more pricey real
estate? (Kelly ~ Santa Rosa, CA)
A. Beijing’s Anbang Insurance Group Co. is paying $1.95
billion for the 1,232-room Hilton-owned tower on New York’s Park Avenue. They have also purchased a 70 percent
interest in the Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn and purchased lower
Manhattan’s 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza. Rumor has it they have also placed 1600
Pennsylvania Avenue NE in Washington, D.C., into escrow.
