PROPANE RAPE

The price of propane has jumped from about $2.10 in October to over $4.00 per gallon in northern California, and to over $6.00 per gallon in some mid-western states.  Propane is a by-product of the oil refining process, whereas natural gas is contained in underground pockets.  The Federal government has announced it is going to “look into” the price increases to ascertain whether or not they are justified.  Producers are claiming demand is high in eastern states and supply is low due to last year’s need to cure huge supplies of grain.

COMMENTS:
So, here’s the situation with American families who use propane: in a nutshell, they are getting raped.  In my case, the local propane company saw what was coming and stocked up on its supply when prices were lower.  They then backed-off home deliveries until tanks were almost empty and delivered propane at the new, higher prices… thereby making a killing for themselves.  Now, the other side of that argument is that when the local distributors go to replenish their supplies, they have to buy at the higher prices and they need the cash capital to do it.  But, take the homeowner with a 320 gallon tank who is used to being refilled every two months or so at 200 gallons and at $2.10 per gallon totaling $420.  In this latest instance, the distributor fills their tank when it’s almost empty; that’s 300 gallons at $4.00 per gallon and a $1,200 bill. What if the customer can’t pay it?  Does he freeze to death, or does he go to bed with a jar of jalapenos and a can of hot chili?

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Do you think Amanda Knox is guilty, and what’s next?  (Jennifer ~ Lancaster, CA)
A. Italy’s justice system is much different than ours.  Over there, if you win on appeal, the prosecutor can appeal back.  That’s basically what happened.  There were drugs and alcohol involved, so I really don’t know.  I’m not sure about their government, but their court system is even more corrupt than ours. It now goes to Italy's Supreme Court for review in about a year.

Q. Do you think a revolution will be necessary to get this country straightened out?  (Paulo ~ Kansas City, KS)
A. Only if Americans refuse to go to the polls in November and vote like Americans.  Oh, and we need to keep the illegal immigrants from voting and we need to be certain the military gets to vote this go around for a change.  Where’s Popeye when you need him?

Q. Romney has been in the news a lot lately.  Do you honestly think he might run again in 2016?  (Penny ~ Ogden, UT)
A. He proved to me in the last go-around that he does not have what it takes to be a good President.  He let Obama walk all over him in the debates and get away with outright lies.  I always thought he was a poor choice on the part of the Republicans anyway.  That all being said, yes he just might run again; hos wife says not, but he's not talking and the current Republican hierarchy is dumb enough to go for a Romney-Bush ticket.  Those who have commandeered the Republican Party do seem bound and determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

TODAY’S QUOTE:
“When one makes a Revolution, one cannot mark time; one must always go forward - or go back. He who now talks about the 'freedom of the press' goes backward, and halts our headlong course towards Socialism.” ~ Vladimir Lenin
