Sequestration has created the situation where half of the
Navy’s jet fighters can’t fly due to lack of maintenance and ships have been
sidelined for the same reason. Training
is also substandard and the Navy lacks funds to transfer personnel from base to
base.
COMMENTS:
From what I understand, the Air Force is in similar dire
straits. These problems will hamper our
ability to respond to some contingencies.
Worse yet, they may be seen as sufficient weakness on our part to encourage an attack by some adversary.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. It was such a major part of the campaign, I don’t
understand why it’s going to take over a year to get rid of ObamaCare. (Joyce ~ Bremerton, WA)
A. The problem is that ObamaCare has been around for six
years and there are contracts in place with providers and insurance companies
that must be undone. They must also
craft and pass legislation to replace ObamaCare and there needs to be public
discussion about the new plan as well before the ink is signed. The last thing we need is another
albatross.
Q. How do you feel about California becoming a sanctuary
state? (Lenny ~ Glendale, CA)
A. Ashamed. I think
it’s time we conservatives and others who want our state and local governments
to comply with the laws should march on Sacramento. Why should we be paying state taxes to a
state that is lawless? Those who subscribe to the sanctuary city or state policy should either change the laws or go to jail.
Q. Did I hear that some GOP candidates were backed by George
Soros in 2016? (Matthew ~ San Ramon, CA)
A. This should come as no surprise to you; here’s the list:
Paul Ryan, John McCain, John Kasich, Lindsey Graham, Jeb Bush and Marco
Rubio.
