TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Has anyone ever run unopposed for the presidency” (Arturo ~ Colusa, CA)
A. Yes… George Washington for his first term.  The election wasn’t done in one day, either; it started December 15, 1788 and went on until January 10, 1789.  Believe it or not, there were no political parties; there were the Federalists, who supported ratification of the Constitution, or Anti-Federalists who did not.  Unlike Barack Obama, Washington never wanted to be a king, although he was offered the job.

Q. You’ve really made it plain that you’re no longer in love with FOX NEWS.  How are their ratings doing?  (Fern ~ Forks, WA)
A. Their ratings are lower than they have been in years; word even has it that some of their cornerstone programs have taken a 50% or larger hit.  They do have some good talent in their stable and I’m surprised they haven’t jumped ship by now.

Q. Who was Vince Foster and why is his name making the news?  (Miguel ~ Seattle, WA)
A. He was Deputy White House Counsel under Bill Clinton and was found dead in a Virginia park, setting off one of the biggest controversies of the era.  The eventual finding was that he had committed suicide with a .38 caliber pistol.  But according to WND, newly discovered evidence unearthed from boxes stored deep in the National Archives lend credence to theories about foul play and cover-up that have been hinted at by at least three books and countless articles.  Pictures stored in the boxes show a second bullet wound in his neck from a .22 caliber gun.  If you’re committing suicide, how can you shoot yourself twice with different guns, one of which is not found at the scene?  Foster worked with Hillary at the Rose Law Firm in Arkansas prior to the White House job, and there was an ongoing investigation into the firm at the time of Foster’s “suicide.”
