There has been a bill introduced in the United States Senate
that would change the way Concealed Weapons Permits are treated in this
country. Each state currently has its
own set of regulations concerning the issue and may or may not recognize and
give reciprocity to permits issued by other states. The bill would treat such permits like driver
licenses: A concealed weapons permit issued by any state would be valid in all
states.
COMMENTS:
The headline is, admittedly, a play on words. This idea makes so much sense. I have concealed weapons permits in three
states, California, Oregon and Utah. I
travel extensively in all three states and when you include the laws of
reciprocity, I can carry legally in 33 or 34 states depending on the day of the
week and the whim of the cop. But, I
can’t carry legally in Nevada. To reach
Utah from California, I have to travel through Nevada. To comply with Nevada law and to be able to
transport my gun with me to Utah, I have to jump through hoops. (That’s kind of dumb on Nevada’s part; don’t
they want people to come and gamble there?) To obtain such a permit in any state, you have to be checked out by
God and the Twelve Apostles. People with such permits just simply do not commit
gun crimes. Such a piece of legislation is long overdue and I’m glad to see the
Senate giving it a shot.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Do you think we will see some shootings in America like we’ve
seen in Paris and Copenhagen? (Gert ~ Davenport,
WA)
A. It is possible, but less likely than other countries
because we have a much higher percentage of gun owners; over 100 million people
here own guns, and that fact is a deterrent to someone planning a terrorist act
involving guns. On the other hand, we
are less secure in our infrastructure and buildings; I think we are wide open
for more bombings of the subway and power station variety. Aren’t you glad we have those 100 million legal
gun owners around right now?
Q. I am sick and tired of this damned political correctness.
We have sanitized and re-sanitized this radical Muslim terrorism with polite
terms that almost make its savagery palatable.
Yet, these people are barbaric, vulgar and purely evil people, Satans on
earth. We can’t we get real and tell it
like it is so that we can come to grips with it? (Steve ~ Redding, CA)
A. I don’t really think that Obama wants anybody to come to grips with it. It seems to me that he is really aiding and
abetting the enemy to some extent. They
just butchered 21 Christians in Libya, but I suppose that’s okay because the
Christians had their Crusades, you know.
The longer we allow this to fester and grow, the more inevitable it is
that we will soon be in a worldwide religious war. We need to start by making it an act of treason punishable by death to hide
terrorists in Mosques.
Q. Ted Cruz says the politicians in Washington, Republicans
included, are basically in a dream world where they do not realize the American
people exist. Is he correct? (Andrew ~ Orem, UT)
A. He’s right on. You
would think that after this last election, everyone in Washington would have
the message: We’re flat fed up with their lack of responsiveness. We’ve got polls showing Americans want the
border closed and Obama’s Amnesty trashed, and the Republicans are afraid to
touch the issue because they want the Mexican votes in 2016. The sole criteria should be what is right for
the country. That’s why I have been
insisting for several election cycles that we need to vote all incumbents out,
regardless of party. We need to clean out
the House, Senate and White House and start from scratch.

devil’s force of evil, and I believe Satan is alive and he is working, and he
