ECONOMY SHRINKS: WHO’S TO BLAME?

The Feds announced yesterday that the nation’s economy has shrunk for the first time since 2009.  The Obama machine went into their immediate “Blame Someone Else” mode, lashing out at Republicans for being obstructionists and claiming that other indicators of economic growth outweigh their own adverse report. 

COMMENTS:

For several years now, the Obama Administration has been claiming that their methods of dealing with the economy are the only proper and correct ones and they have summarily shut out any input from the Republicans or conservative economists.  Now that the bottom is starting to fall out again, they blame the Republicans for it?  They are the ones whose condescending positions continue to lead us into trouble.  How they can blame Republicans for the defense cuts, I’ll never know; can you believe Pelosi’s unmitigated gall to suggest that it’s the Republicans fault because they caved in on the Democrats demands for reduced defense spending?  The fact that the economy shrank at all, combined with much lower consumer confidence reported Tuesday, may raise fears about the economy's durability in 2013.  The automatic spending cuts which were delayed in the latest fiscal crisis deal -- will cut into domestic and defense programs starting in March unless Congress reaches a deal to avert them.  And Americans are coming to grips with an increase in Social Security taxes that has begun to leave them with less take-home pay.  I can react to all of this using only two letters of the alphabet… B.S.

Q. What did you think of Gabby Gifford’s’ appeal yesterday that too many children are being killed by gun violence? (Liz ~ Mesa, AZ)

A. I presume then, that it’s okay to kill adults and senior citizens? Really, the Giffords acknowledge that they own guns and their remarks were directed more at violence in general as opposed to gun violence in particular.  I think they would agree with me that background checks and the investigation of sociological and mental problems should be highest on the list of things to do.  However, mental issues are a tough nut to crack, pardon the eloquent play on words.   

Q. I think Al Gore is a sleazy character for selling his network to Al Jazeera.  What’s your opinion?  (Tyrone ~ Denver, CO)

A. Looking at it objectively, if you owned a big business that was losing money because nobody wanted to buy what it was selling, and Vladimir Putin came along and offered to buy it for $100 million, would you sell it to him or would you stand on American principles and refuse to sell it?  So, we’ve established that he’s not that strong an American, that he’s not a principled man and that he’s opportunistic.  We already know that when it comes to global warming, he’s full of hot air.   

Q. What do you say about Hillary Clinton’s already setting up an exploratory committee for the 2016 Presidential election?  (Georgia ~ Redding, CA)

A. I told you so.  And, in the back rooms of Washington, the Republicans are probably gearing up to run Jeb Bush or Colin Powell.

CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS: JUSTICE SCALIA UNLOADS

Justice Antonin Scalia unloaded Monday, complaining about school children who visit the Supreme and refer to the Constitution as a “living document.”  “It’s NOT a living document,” he said.  “It’s dead, dead, dead!” He also criticized the Supreme Court’s recent decision to strike down the juvenile death penalty, calling it the latest example of politics on the court that has made judicial nominations an increasingly bitter process. 

COMMENTS:

The Constitution, any constitution for that matter, is a living document only to the extent that it provides for amendment.  If you want to make it say something other than it meant the day it was created, amend it.  Constitutions must be rigid; otherwise, they are as worthless as a piece of paper in creating a system of government.  If they are not rigid, you either have anarchy or you have oppression and tyranny.  The fact that they have been drumming into children’s heads for years now that the Constitution is a “living document” speaks volumes about what their true agenda really is.

Q. I’ve had a recurring major problem with my emails, and thought maybe you had heard of a way to fix it.  My computer keeps sending out spam emails to other people on my email list trying to get them to buy Viagra or go to a site and meet horny women.  This is very embarrassing to me.  I took my computer to a repair shop and they could find nothing wrong with it.  Now what?  (Hy ~ Beaverton, OR)

A. The problem is probably within your email account and at the provider level.  I recommend that you set up a dummy contact in your contact list; everyone should do this whether you are currently infected or not.  Make it to Dum Dummy, d.dummy@takevcareofit1.com for example.  That’s a non-existent email address.  If your computer or your email account starts sending out spams, the one to the dummy will bounce and you will receive a message that it has bounced and will therefore be alerted.  In most cases, people use an email client such as Microsoft Outlook to handle all of their emails as opposed to doing everything at the website.  I have many email addresses and this makes it easier to manage them.  Outlook Express is another such client. 

Since the client becomes your main email tool, you rarely ever go to the actual website anymore.  So, in looking at you contact list in your computer when sending emails, you have no idea that your email accounts have been infected; it’s at the actual provider level.  This is what I would recommend if you start having these problems:

1.      Log out of your email client
2.      Go directly to your email website provider and log directly into your account
3.      Go to your contact list and remove any contacts you do not know
4.      Change your email account password
5.      Sign out
6.      Open and sign in to your email client, such as Microsoft Outlook and go to the settings for your email account; change your password there to match the new password you put onto the website.  Save and close. 
7.      Oh, and I forgot the most important thing… Blame Bush. 

Q. Diane Feinstein, in an outright attack of marginalization, came out Sunday and blamed the NRA for the gun control battle, practically labeling them as the scum of the earth.  How vicious can they get?  (Lydia ~ Lake Elsinore, CA)

A. She is one of a cadre of left-wing idiots who think the Constitution is a “living document,” and that it can therefore be interpreted not as it was written, but as she and her loony-bird cohorts dictate.  As for me, I am a proud gun owner and a member of the NRA because we have a right to own guns and we need an organization to protect us from despots, tyrants and little old ladies who should have retired a long time ago. 

Q. I see Senator Ted Cruz from Texas is inviting gun and ammo manufacturers to move their operations, vowing a better tax climate, the ability to get bank lines of credit, and good old southern hospitality.  Do you think anything will come of it?  (Serina ~ Anadarko, OK)

A. I predict that, by the end of 2013, at least one major arms company will either take Texas or Wyoming up on the offer.  I also predict that Obama will not set foot in the state of Texas for the rest of his term and that, my friend, is really why Texans are smiling today.

STATES, SHERIFF’S REFUSE TO ENFORCE GUN CONTROL

Several county sheriffs have already come forward to say they will not enforce any federal laws establishing gun control.  Legislatures in Virginia, Wyoming, Texas, Mississippi, and Tennessee have passed bills against the enforcement of any gun control laws in their states.  The sheriff of Milwaukee County in Wisconsin is calling on citizens to go and buy guns and learn how to defend themselves and their rights. 

COMMENTS:

Every minute, the battle lines become more rigid.  The Omnipotent One is bound and determined to get rid of guns in the country, regardless of the disarming statements he has made to the contrary.  Those of us who see him for what he is are attuned to his tactics and firm in our resolve that we will not let a President who refuses to show his birth certificate steal our Second Amendment rights.  If he thinks for one minute that he can win this, he’s going to shoot himself in the foot... badly.

Q. Why in the world has Pepsi been adding fire retardant to Gatorade?  And why hasn’t the FDA done anything about it?  (Destiny ~ Carmichael, CA)

A. Well, the FDA wasn’t all that fired up about it, although a 15-year-old girl was and she sued.  Pepsi says they used the ingredient to provide a better distribution of the flavor in the bottle.  I guess they figure the average drinker of the stuff is too dumb to shake the bottle.  They also say they didn’t use the whole fire retardant, just an ingredient, (brominated vegetable oil), used in the making of fire retardant and pesticides.   Large doses can cause significant health effects and psychological problems, (it is not known if Obama drinks Gatorade or not).   On the bright side, scientists have discovered that drinking lots of Gatorade makes it less likely that you will die in a fire.  Pepsi has decided to discontinue its use. 

Q. Obama is such a mean-spirited individual.  Now, he is attacking Fox News, telling Republicans they have no business listening to Fox News or conservatives like Rush Limbaugh.  He hates conservatives and he hates Republicans, and a man filled with so much hatred has no business being a leader of a nation.  (Joshua ~ Salt Lake City, UT)

A. All you need to know is that he hates anybody or any organization that he cannot totally control.  This is a psychopathic trait shared by Mao, Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and, coincidentally, Hussein. 

Q. I am angry that the Boy Scouts is considering allowing gays members and gay leaders into the organization.  I do not want my sons exposed to that.  What can we do about it?  (Angel ~ LaPuente, CA)

A. Get on the Internet, go to the Boy Scout website and send them an email with your concerns and viewpoints.  The decision hasn’t been made yet, but will be early in February.  I myself will not tolerate other people dictating to me what my morals or beliefs should be on any subject.  Were I raising my sons in today’s day and age, I would pull them out of Boy Scouts if the new direction is approved, and that would deprive them of one of the otherwise greatest experiences any young man can have.

CHICAGO: SEVEN SHOOTING DEATHS IN ONE DAY

Chicago's homicide count eclipsed 500 last year for the first time since 2008. Chicago's homicide rate was almost double in the early 1990s, averaging around 900. 

COMMENTS:

Chicago has the toughest gun control laws in the country.  Sorry Rahm & Barry, but I have to tell it like it is.  The fact is that the cities and states with the LOOSEST gun laws in the country have the lowest gun violence.  Just ask the FBI.

A. Historically, when he’s been justifiably criticized over anything, he’s actually not done anything about it, although he may have squawked like a wounded tortoise.  I think that to him, any subsequent action on his part would be an admission that he screwed up in the first place and his psyche simply can’t handle that. 

Q. AT&T Mobile is warning people that cell phones can spread the flu?  (Chelsea ~ Morgan Hill, CA)

A. Yes, viruses are getting into everything, you know. Of course, it goes back to your hands and what you touch including your cell phone.  They’re even recommending not using your cell phone in public restrooms.  I once had a controlling boss who called me several times one morning while I was in the restroom.  I kept ignoring the calls, but finally answered.  He was steaming and demanded to know why I had not been answering his calls on the company cellphone.  I held it down next to the commode and flushed.  We got along fine after that.   

Q. I heard yesterday that Hillary Clinton is now wearing glasses designed to prevent double vision?  (Marguerite ~ Tucumcari, NM)

A. They say it may be due to her fall and concussion.  Personally, I think it is a result of too much double-talking.

BAD NEWS WEEK FOR OBAMA

Now, after the NLRB ruling, it is closer to court time for the numerous lawsuits about birth control, religion and the ObamaCare mandates.  Faith-affiliated charities, hospitals and universities have filed dozens of lawsuits against the mandate, which requires employers to provide insurance that covers contraception for free. Many for-profit business owners are also suing, claiming a violation of their religious beliefs

COMMENTS:

I happen to believe in the modern miracle of birth control.  However, I recognize that there are religions which preach against birth control; the Catholics are not the only ones.  The doctrine of freedom of religion was adopted because the government of England only accepted the Church of England and its teachings and new Americans wanted the freedom to join other religions or none and they wanted to know that the government could not influence the teachings of the church of their choice.  The truly Omnipotent One, however, doesn’t give a hoot about the Constitution or its protections.  He believes that whatever he says should be the law of the land.  Our ancestors gave their blood to defend these rights; shame on us for not standing up and defending them.

A. Friday’s polling from ABC News and the Washington Post finds that only 39% of the public supports his plan.  Support for gun control remains lower than before Obama took office; in April of 2008, 58% said it was more important to control gun ownership, while 37% prioritized protecting gun rights. In a poll released January 14, 2013 Pew found that 51% say it is more important to control gun ownership, while 45% say it is more important to protect gun rights.  History shows, however, that Obama will turn the heat up on the issue and do everything he can do to cram his agenda down America’s throat.  Get your Tums out. 

Q. Residents of the freezing northeast who live in the areas affected by Superstorm Sandy are outraged.  Obama promised this would not be another Katrina episode, but it is turning out far worse.  What do you think he will do about the criticism?  (Brenda ~ Norwalk, CA)

A. Ignore it.  He might even get on his jet plane and leave the country for a week.  That’s my first guess; my second guess is that he will blame Bush for it. 

Q. The NLRB appointments Obama made are not the only recess appointments he has made over his first four years.  How will the recent Federal Court panel ruling affect those other appointments?  (Tiffany ~ Tonopah, NV)

A. Not much.  In the first place, there are appeals going on and the panel rulings get stayed while this occurs.  The other appointments did not affect regulatory bodies.

SUPERSTORM SANDY VICTIMS GET THE SHAFT

Sandy victims are now facing extreme weather and cold with declining supplies of fuel for heat.  Many of them are still living in tents or homes without heat, electricity or running water.  The authorities have not yet provided significant shelters and razing of demolished structures and rebuilding may not get underway until late spring.  Residents of the New Dorp Beach section of Staten Island have taken shelter in tents set up by aid workers with only small propane heaters, sleeping bags and blankets to stave off the bone-chilling cold, according to reports.  Those lucky enough to be in hotels or motels can only stay two weeks at a time and then have to reapply for FEMA assistance. 

COMMENTS:

The Omnipotent One has been saying every month since he first got into office, “Next month, I’m going to make jobs my number one priority.”  So, in his mind I guess Sandy’s victims will have to wait until Obama solves the nation’s jobless problem, and he’s still waiting until “next month.”

I see the Supreme Court has ruled that it was unconstitutional for Obama to name three members to the NLRB during Christmas recess in 2011.  I also heard he is going to appeal.  Who too?  And, what about all of the rulings that have been passed down by the NLRB; do they still stand?  (Gretchen ~ Red Bluff, CA) 

A. Actually, it was a three-judge panel of a Federal Court that made the unanimous ruling.  The Omnipotent One has already said he will appeal to the full Federal Court and then to the Supreme Court.  I presume the rulings will stand until the appeals are exhausted.  I can also imagine that the Omnipotent One threw one helluva big snit when the ruling came down, as he is prone to do.

Q. What is this news about Medicare payments being made to illegal aliens and prisoners, even though that is against the law?  (Ahmad ~ Simi Valley, CA)

A. Yes, to the tune of $120 million between 2009 and 2011.  Now, the agency says there is no way for them to get the money back, so the taxpayers will have to eat it.  I thought Her Highness Michelle wanted the nation to go on a diet…

Q. What’s your take on the problems with Boeing’s 785?  (Carmen ~ Kingman, AZ)

A. The allegations are that the issues stem from the lithium batteries used in the plane’s electrical system, which Boeing flatly denies.  I understand the NTSB just determined that the batteries in one plane that had smoke problems were okay.  Nevertheless, it came to light yesterday that a lithium battery tested by Boeing in Tucson during the manufacturing process exploded.  Boeing responded by saying the test procedure was flawed which is why the battery exploded, but at least one former Boeing employee has come forward to say the test was conducted entirely by standards and that employees had been told to button their lips.  Whenever there’s a lot of money at stake, the tendency for covering up problems does exist.
