There's been some talk about a blanket forgiveness of student loans. How about this? If the student goes to work for any branch of the U.S. or any State government in a position that can use his/her education, and he/she gets paid the going rate for that position, we will forgive one year of student debt for each year they work. They must obtain a degree in order to qualify. Military service also counts.
