MCCAIN MAKES TOTAL ASS OUT OF HIMSELF

A former Presidential candidate for whom I was forced to vote in the 2008 election has launched a campaign against the Tea Parties and against those in Congress who support them.  In particular, he spoke out against Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Mike Lee of Utah and Marco Rubio of Florida, who won their Senate seats by defying the party establishment…the same establishment which engineered the 2012 debacle.

COMMENTS:

“The establishment” has created for itself the reputation of pretending to stand up to the Democrats in Congress and then caving in at the last moment in a thinly disguised smoke-and-mirrors ploy to make us think they are doing their job.  “The establishment,” the “Good Old Boys” of the “Grand Old Party” need to get with the program or get out of the way.  Otherwise, as I’ve suggested many times, they might as well just fold themselves into the Democratic Party and stop the farce.  It’s “The Establishment” that forced me out of the party after 50 years of continuous and loyal membership.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:

Q. For Lois Lerner to expose herself to the probability that Congress would say she couldn’t claim the 5th Amendment puzzles me; she had great attorneys.  (Wendy ~ Seattle, WA)
A. It’s a red herring. They'll call her back to testify and she'll claim the 5th again and they'll assert she waived her right to assert the 5th.  Off they go to Federal Court and then the Supreme Court and we’re looking at 24-36 months for a decision.  Get the picture?  Yes, it’s another engineered Administration stall.

Q. What do you think of the Arias hung jury?  (Gabe ~ Carson, CA)
A. It’s really immaterial.  Whatever the ultimate decision is, she’ll have a multitude of appeals and this thing is likely to play out over 5-6 years. The final verdict is not likely to really involve any of the players so far involved except, of course, her.

Q. Where do you think the Holder investigating Holder scheme is going to lead?  (Ashley ~ Hawthorne, CA)
A. The same place his investigation of the Fast & Furious gun-running scheme, all of the way to a claim of Executive Privilege by Obama.  That’s where it’s going to go if Congress gets buffaloed again.

“I would say this with regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. That is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy. In fact my view is quite the opposite.” Eric Holder, under oath to Congress the day before NBC determined he was the one who signed the warrant and just two days before he admitted to it.

I RELINQUISH MY HERITAGE AS A BOY SCOUT

Yesterday, the leadership of one of the most hallowed institutions in the country voted to allow gays into the Boy Scouts.  Not adults, they were quick to say, just kids.

COMMENTS:
One small step for gays, one giant leap for the destruction of everything the Boy Scouts of America stands for.  My family was very instrumental in the founding of the Boy Scouts of America and undoubtedly, they are rolling over in their graves.  It will only be a matter of time before they allow gay leadership; how can you allow one without the other?  They have Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, why not have the gays go get their Gay Scouts?  This move violates my religious beliefs and ends my contributions to what was the greatest organization for young men in the history of the earth.  As far as I am concerned now, I will pray for their rapid demise. Or, hopefully, someone will start a new organization for young straight men.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Is the Department of Homeland Security forming its own national police force?  Glenn Beck was commenting [yesterday] that he had seen D.H.S. vehicles plastered with “Police” insignias.  (Shelby ~ Anderson, CA)
A. Here’ a webpage for you to look at: http://www.dhs.gov/careers-federal-protective-service.  What they are essentially saying is they have their own police force to provide security for their buildings and equipment and to deal with hazmat issues.  However, it appears to me that they have morphed into a national police force that certainly has cornered the market on ammunition, as we gun owners well-know.  Who needs 1.5 billion rounds to guard their buildings?  Well, now that I think of it, nobody in government seems to be a straight shooter lately.

Q. The Fox employee, Rosen, who the Department of Justice has been going after… What’s the problem?  It’s like the Wiki-Leaks guy and the National Secrets Act law is clear in that it doesn’t give journalists a free pass.  (Morgan ~ El Monte, CA)
A. The First Amendment trumps everything, and the fact that the law grants no exception to members of the press does not mean that it doesn’t apply.  The Wiki-Leaks guy was not a journalist; he was an entrepreneur, pure and simple.  Just because you write something doesn’t make you a journalist; take William Shakespeare, for instance. (Late add-on: NBC is saying Holder personally authorized the spying.)

Q. What is your opinion on putting Lois Lerner on Administrative Leave?  I think it sucks.  (Jelacio ~ Santa Ana, CA)
A. Actually, that was a smart move.  In business, it’s called “Administrative Leave Pending Investigation” (results) into wrongdoing.  Right now, suspicions are that she ordered the targeting of conservative individuals and groups by the I.R.S. and we suspect she did it upon someone else’s orders.  She does have the right for someone to prove all of this before losing her job.  However, I do believe in this instance that the leave should be without pay and, if she’s cleared she gets back pay.

BILLIONAIRES DUMPING AMERICAN STOCKS

Warren Buffet, John Paulson and George Soros are selling, literally dumping their shares in U.S. companies.  The reason may be that specific research points toward a massive market correction, as much as 90%.

COMMENTS:

Massive inflation looms when the effect of the printing of more money by the Treasury reaches consumer markets.  This means Americans can afford to buy even less than they are now.  Interest rates will soar, meaning the real estate market will tighten up, and the combination of these factors will lead to an inevitable stock market crash.  When these three money moguls are dumping stocks at this time, that means trouble is just around the corner.  Hopefully, we won’t all be reduced to eating sweet bippies.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:

Q. Do you honestly believe that Obama was actually outraged at the I.R.S. news?  (Julie ~ Mission Viejo, CA)
A. Yes, but not in the way you think.  I believe he was outraged because the substance of his real agenda for change in this country is now out in the open.

Q. If, as she stated, Lois Lerner has not lied, has told the truth and has abided by the laws as she alleged yesterday to Congress, why does she need to use the Fifth Amendment?  (Robert ~ Lakeview, OR)
A. Because there could now be questions to which, should she answer truthfully, would bring further discredit to the White House and she was probably told to take the Fifth by someone in the White House or to face their consequences.  The Administration is already known for threatening witnesses in the Benghazi Massacre investigation.

Q. Will there be more to come from witnesses in the Benghazi scandal?  (Bernice ~ Elko, NV)
A. The word is that some new witnesses are obtaining legal counsel and will testify soon.  According to sources, the testimony will center on why Ambassador Stevens was even at Benghazi as well as who ordered General Carter Ham not to send help during the massacre and the reasons why.  That should really be interesting and probably damaging testimony.

DEBT CEILING REACHED: MOODY’S TREATENS ANOTHER DOWNGRADE

Mired in scandals, the Administration has allowed the U.S. temporary suspension of the debt ceiling to expire, meaning we are now technically out of money.  Treasury Secretary Jack Lew cautions that Washington probably can last until sometime after Labor Day, and: "Congress should act sooner rather than later to protect America's good credit and avoid the potentially catastrophic consequences of failing to act until it is too late."

COMMENTS:
The silver lining in all of this is that for now, gun control is taking a back seat to more pressing matters.  I’m sure Obama wants Congress to rush through a new budget compatible with his insatiable desire to spend, spend, spend; I think we could make substantial progress by simply cutting funding for ObamaCare.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Does the I.R.S. scandal lead into the White House and Obama?  (Jan ~ La Junta, CO)
A. We now know that top-level White House officials including the Chief of Staff, were aware of the then pending disclosures about the wrong-doing; How Obama could be surrounded by people who knew and not know himself requires a stretch of the imagination.  While no one knows for sure yet, the day before the targeting of conservative groups began, (March 31, 2010), Colleen Kelley, President of the National Treasury Employees Union, had a meeting with President Obama, according to White House logs.  In fact, she has been an attendee at several White House meetings which are “not described.”  The White House is taking steps to try and isolate the union from investigation.

Q. If Obama knew and said that it was a terrorist attack at Benghazi from day one, why did he fly to Vegas and just where was he that night?  (Edgardo ~ Albany, CA)
A. According to Senior White House Adviser Dan Pfeiffer, the answers to those questions are “irrelevant” and none of our business.  Obama himself said, shortly after he released 100 emails to the Congressional committee investigating Benghazi, that that should be the end of it.  Of course, Congress wants its hands on another 25,000 or so relative documents that the White House is refusing to release.  One thing I have learned in conducting my own investigations into things during my lifetime is that the more someone resists an investigation, the bigger the issue really is.  Bob Woodward, one of the reporters who broke the Watergate story, is of the same opinion and says: “I would not dismiss Benghazi. It's a very serious issue."

Q. I’ve heard from several sources that the A.P. story goes much deeper and that the Obama Administration is “terrified” about something.  Can you elaborate?  (Gloria ~ Denver, CO)
A. Not really.  My suspicions are that it has to do with White House control over the press and media and that blackmail is involved.  Whatever the situation is, you can now bet your sweet bippies that the Associated Press is hot on the trail.

D.O.J. TARGETED FOX REPORTER

James Rosen, a Fox News correspondent, was accused in a Justice Department affidavit of being a possible criminal "co-conspirator" for his alleged role in publishing sensitive security information in a case that takes the highly unusual step of claiming a journalist broke the law.  The Justice Department obtained information about his conversations and visits to the State Department, including a search warrant for his personal emails.  This follows efforts by the department to secretly obtain two months of phone records from Associated Press journalists as part of a separate leak probe. Michael Clemente, Fox News' executive vice president of news, defended Rosen in a statement issued Sunday afternoon: "We are outraged to learn today that James Rosen was named a criminal co-conspirator for simply doing his job as a reporter.  In fact, it is downright chilling. We will unequivocally defend his right to operate as a member of what up until now has always been a free press."

COMMENTS:
Obama has made no secret of the fact that he intends to have total control of the press and media.  Members of the White House Press Corps have been threatened and intimidated about the stories they write: “Play ball or lose your press privileges,” has been the White House mantra.  Fox has been a thorn in Obama’s side and several top White House lackeys have openly targeted Fox in the past, even going so far as to demand that the F.C.C. take Fox off the air.  While Fox should not be surprised at this story, we Americans have a Constitutional right to unfettered reporting about what is going on in our government, contrary to Obama's belief that he who controls the press controls the nation.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Why do you think the I.R.S. admitted to the targeting of conservative groups?  (Russell ~ Sunnyvale, CA)
A. It’s an old trick, like when the auditors are coming to audit your business.  You look for some inconsequential thing you did wrong and make sure they “discover” it.  They write you up for it and go home, satisfied they have done their job; what they don’t know is that there was a much bigger problem they could have discovered and really written you up badly.  Nixon used the same trick with the I.R.S. to let something out of the bag and then admit to it so the investigators would stop before they hit the real pay-dirt.

Q. Did I hear correctly that the I.R.S. is monitoring millions of emails and Internet transactions?  (Glenna ~ Redding, CA)
A. Yes.  They claim authority to do so without warrants and that their objective is to catch tax cheats.  Is big brother watching you?

Q. You’ve mentioned the “Fast & Furious” scandal a bit in recent posts.  What happened to the chief whistle blower, John Dodson?  (Myrna ~ Gardnerville, NV)
A. Dennis Burke, the former chief of staff for Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano who was appointed as U.S. Attorney for Arizona by President Obama in September 2009, lied when asked if he leaked sensitive documents to the press meant to undermine the credibility of A.T.F. whistle-blower John Dodson.  Burke reportedly leaked information to the press designed to discredit Dodson.  When Congress asked him about it, Burke lied and disclaimed the charge.  Dodson is now in South Carolina with severe restrictions on what he can and cannot do.

SUSAN RICE TO BE PROMOTED

Inside reports from the White House are that Susan Rice is in line to be promoted as the next National Security Advisor.  Rice’s intentions to be Secretary of State were sidetracked by her September insistence that the Benghazi Massacre occurred as a result of an anti-Muslim video in the face of mounting evidence to the contrary.

COMMENTS:
I said at the time that she would end up getting a big raise for doing what she was told to do by the White House.  Obviously, I was correct.  This simply amounts to another flip of the finger by the White House to the deaths of our Ambassador and three others at Benghazi and to those of us who care.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. [Yesterday], Senior White House Advisor Daniel Pfeiffer made the circuit of news talk shows and poo-pahed any notion that Obama knew of the impending I.R.S. scandal and insisted that, if any laws were broken, it doesn’t make any difference.  I cannot believe the audacity of this White House.  (Gina ~ Irvine, CA)
A. It does sound like Susan Rice’s tour of the news talk shows right after the Benghazi Massacre, doesn’t it?  Deny, deny, deny and try to change the subject?  The only thing missing here is a weekend trip by Obama to Las Vegas.  Pfeiffer did say the Republicans owe Rice an apology and that it was “irrelevant” what Obama was doing while the attacks were ongoing.  Yeah, right.  Oh well, the Tea Parties and the Associated Press are getting a recharge out of all of this…

Q. What effect will the Russian build-up of the Assad-Syrian military have on a resolution to that problem?  (Kerry ~ Beaverton, OR)
A. It makes things much more difficult.  For one thing, the Russians are now controlling the Mediterranean with their navy.  Russian supplied anti-ship missiles could be used to break an embargo against Syria, as well as to stop supplies for the rebels.  I have a distinct feeling this is going to be a long, hot summer… everywhere.

Q. Senator Bob Corker has been trying to get answers from the Obama Administration about secret government payoffs to Afghanistan leader Hamid Karzai.  Is he making any progress?  (Irv ~ Missoula, MT)
A. Not much.  He first got a reply that the issue was none of his business, but now they have admitted the payments have been ongoing for over ten years, laying the blame for the payments on the Bush Administration.  Of course, they could have been stopped by Obama, and should have been because they open the door for corruption; there is no accounting or the funds.  Thank God the Obama Administration is as honest as the day is long, right?
