OMMM! OMMMMM!

It's almost like living in a looney bin these days.  While they control both Houses of Congress and the White House, the Republicans are busily going about convincing America that they are as useless as teats on a a boar hog.  For seven years now, they've been chanting "We're gonna repeal and replace ObamaCare."  It kind of reminds one of a long line of monks in a jungle full of baboons chanting the same hums over and over again, "Ommmm.  We will repeal and replace ObamaCare!  Ommm!  Ommmmmmmm!"  They design a worthless piece of legislation, it fails to pass,  they come to the microphones and chant, "Ommmm.  We will repeal and replace ObamaCare!  Ommm!  Ommmmmmmm!"

And the Democrats smile so... so demurely, nod their heads and flip their birdies.

Followed by the Republican cretins, who predictably point fingers at each other, make excuses, stare blankly at the ceilings, sit on their thumbs and chant, "Ommmm.  We will repeal and replace ObamaCare!  Ommm!  Ommmmmmmm!"

In between these endless chants, they make other wild gestures and crazy promises.  They're going to investigate James Comey.  They're going to depose Susan Rice.  They're going to demand another special prosecutor.  They're going to revise the tax system.  They're going to raise the debt limits.  They're going to pass the best budget ever invented in the history of mankind.  They're going to fix immigration.

And, they're going to do all of these magnificent and glorious things before Easter!  Ah, well, before the 4th of July.  Before they take a summer recess, by damn!  End of September?  Before the snow flies?  Their track record is already so putrid that it smells worse than a Schmucker Fart in a whirlwind.

That whole damned Capitol, all of the way up and down Pennsylvania Avenue, isn't worth the powder it would take to blow them all of the way back to Oz.   "Ommmm.  Ommm!  Ommmmmmmm!"

REMEMBER WHEN?

There was a day when any organized professional sport in this country required that its players conduct themselves in a manner which would reflect favorably on the team.  You didn't get busted for drugs, you didn't beat up your girlfriend... hell, you'd get fired for getting a DUI or even a speeding ticket!  These days, I don't think you could get fired for throwing a game in order to win some sports book money, so you have to really wonder how many games ARE fixed.

Roger Goodell has made it clear that  American patriotism is not one of the requirements for being on an NFL team.  He couldn't care less about how many times a player gets arrested on a rape charge as long as he beings money to the bottom line.  We used to look up at sports players; now we look down on them because they are on their knees during our National Anthem.  As far as I am concerned, any network that shows an NFL game and any "fan" who attends one or watches it on TV is just as as guilty as the player who disrespects our country.  If they dislike America all that much, why don't they just take their whole damned league to far western California where they will be much more welcomed?

Speaking of way back when, remember the good old days when everybody believed in our country, when we all supported our president even if we didn't vote for him, when no law told you who you had to go to the bathroom with, when it was legal to shoot a hungry bear that was trying to break down your door, when you didn't have to change your clocks twice a year in order to please some jackass in Washington, or when a youngster could sell a glass of lemonade without a business license?  Well, you'll certainly enjoy Heritage Day at the Park, an annual event at McArthur- Burney Falls Park that's free to the public on Sunday, October the 8th.  No politicians are scheduled to be there, so you won't need to bring your guns.

Anthony Wiener, the pervert who just happened to have many of the nation's top secrets on the laptop he shared with Huma Abedin, just got sentenced to 21 months in jail.  Oh... and he has to give up his I-Phone. Will SOMEONE please let me off this planet?  I remember the days when the bastard would have been sentenced to life in Des Moines.

And, getting back to the opening of this post... Alejandro Villanueva is the Pittsburgh player who had the good old American courage to defy the rest of his team members who hid out in the locker room during the rendition of the National Anthem last Sunday.  Villanueva is a West Point graduate who served his country with honor and dignity, and who stood by his country in the face of adversity.  Team Coach Mike Tomlin, however, is madder than hell that Villanueva put his American patriotism before his team.  And that tells me everything I needed to know about the NFL.  Piss on them;  I'm not planning to watch the Super Bowel.

THE RESURRECTION

The Burney Mountain Hermit is coming back to life, albeit halfway.  Instead of posting six days a week, it'll only be three, being Monday, Wednesday and Friday.   So, here goes.

Let me start off by extending sincere best wishes for the far western sliver of California to have a serious earthquake and fall off into the ocean.  The radical left-wingers of the state, which includes San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley, have managed to hijack the rest of the state and impose sanctuary state status on the complacent wizards who live there.  Now, every illegal alien in the country who has committed or intends to commit a felony, will be heading here.  Personally, I think it's way past the time when the rest of the state should kick their butts, (left-wing politicos), out of the country.  They're not Americans; they're all Congressional Republicans in disguise.

And while I'm at at, I have a new motto:
To hell, with the NFL.  If they won't stand up for America, I won't stand in line to watch one of their stupid-assed games.

Remember that terrific promise Obama made to retrain workers for new jobs when he virtually destroyed the coal industry?  He hired a tech company to administer the re-training problem.  Well, being an Obama-hired government contractor, they didn't perform worth a diddly-squat, a fact vastly under-reported in the mainstream media.   The last I heard, the firm was in Buffalo, Wyoming seeking to get more government money to expand their stellar success.

As it so often happens in media country, so does it in the retail market.  Amazon.com has been caught playing a little hanky-panky with the book ratings of one Hillary Rodham Clinton.  It turns out that so many buyers of her latest book were trashing their reaction to the new American Bible of Idiocy that Amazon decided to suppress the negative reader ratings,  raising her results to a staggering 4.8 favorability from what probably should have been a -10.0.  Predictably, Amazon's owner, Jeff Bozo, who also owns the WASHINGTON POST and who appears ready to run for president in 2020, denied the allegations.

The Air Force is running low on bombs and missiles... so low that there's talk about continuing diplomatic negotiations with North Korea into the 22nd century.

THE HERMIT MAY BE COMING BACK TO LIFE

Stay tuned.  There have been many requests to rejuvenate this blog.  There are things to put back in place if that is to happen.

FALL BEGINS

As hot as it is, it may not feel like fall.  But, fall is actually on our doorstep. Usually, somewhere around the middle of September, the oppressive heat breaks and overnight temperatures begin to plummet.

With these changes looming, summer activities reach their final peak and we drift into winter.  School begins, Labor Day comes and goes, the Intermountain Fairgrounds comes to life, the veterans organizations recognize POW/MIA day and the McArthur-Burney Falls Park caps off the season with Heritage Day at the Park.

This year, we've had the wettest in recorded history and also the hottest.  But, we have a whole lot to be thankful for.  We're not under five feet of water everywhere.  No major fire has threatened our way of life.  No earthquakes, diseases or pestilence have besieged us.  And newspapers carry only good news.

How can we ask for anything better than this?

GOOD THINGS ARE AFOOT IN INTERMOUNTAIN AREA

There are plenty of fine folks in the area that runs from Round Mountain all of the way to Alturas and from Mt. Shasta all of the way to Shingletown.  There are countless people and organizations out there who are constantly seeking ways to maintain and improve our ways of life.

Take the area's only Masonic Lodge, for example.  Fort Crook Lodge 250 of Free and Accepted Masons in Fall River Mills has for many years secured backpacks full of school supplies to give to second grade students in the Intermountain area.  This is no small undertaking: you have to coordinate with the schools involved, find backpacks that are decent and durable, shop for the goodies to go into them and physically pack them in, and distribute them.  Certainly not least, it takes finding the money to get the job done.

There are many organizations that do good things and we should all be involved to at least some extent in at least one of them.  The quality of life we enjoy is so terrific that we really do owe it to each other to give a little bit back... don't we?

SHASTA COUNTY'S BIGWIG SYNDROME

They say you can't fight city hall, but I beg to differ.

The Intermountain Community is justifiably concerned about the problem of transients and homeless persons, as well as the associated crime that comes along with it... drugs, alcohol abuse, petty theft, property damage, general vandalism, littering... and in some cases violent crime such as rape, battery and even murder.  There was a day when these issues were dealt with everywhere by making a simple call to law enforcement, which sent officers to the scene and rousted out the trouble-makes or even carted them off to jail.  So, although the problem existed, it was a minor thing.

Things have gotten so bad in the Intermountain area that citizens and newspapers recently forced Shasta County bigwigs to show up for a community meeting.  It was a major disappointment: the bigwigs wrung their hands, shifted their eyes, shrugged their shoulders and came up with the same old excuse that every agency in the country comes up with when things fall apart... they need more money.

You would have thought that someone among the gathering of elitist bigwigs would have suggested forming a community commission to investigate the underlying causes of transients and homeless people in the area and to identify some possible courses of action that we can undertake to get our State Legislature to come to grips with what has to be done.  Maybe we need more agencies targeting the issue of homelessness.  Maybe we need some community vocational training and assistance in finding jobs for some of these people.  Maybe we need to pressure our schools, churches and other institutions to step up to the plate.

The point is, we don't know where to start to mitigate the social ills that are causing these problems until we investigate the underlying causes and determine positive and proactive courses of action.  Simply throwing money at it won't make it go away.

A hopeless shrug of the shoulders, a rolling of the eyes and a plea of agency poverty won't get the job done and is totally irresponsible.  If these tactics are their only answers, this festering problem is only going to get worse; citizens will ghat more angry and somebody is bound to get hurt.

The country seems to be full of politicians who pay mere lip service when it comes to doing their jobs; obviously, Shasta County is no exception.   Hopefully, the bigwigs in Redding will read this and understand that even without money, they can get a better grip on these problems and come up with a few potential solutions which they can pass along to the State Legislature.

Come the next election, our duty will be to replace those who have abdicated their responsibilities to us with candidates who have some degree of intelligence and dedication toward resolving the many issues facing Intermountain citizens in this day and age.

CHANGES ARE COMING

I've decided to totally revamp the BURNEY MOUNTAIN HERMIT.  You can read more about the decision on today's post at MY AMERICAN OPINION.

The focus of this blog will change to activities, events and happenings in the Intermountain community of Northern California.  Posts will occur less frequently and on no particular schedule for the moment.  I need to contemplate how this change will take place and get a feel for it.

I thank my loyal readers and those who have submitted questions for your interest and help.

JEFF SESSIONS TO PAY FOR BORDER WALL

The Justice Department has busted a nationwide medical fraud in which 412 people have been arrested and charged with fraud and opioid scams totaling $1.3 billion in false billing, according to The Associated Press.  Attorney General Jeff Sessions said that medical professionals were among those arrested, including doctors, nurses and pharmacists who “have chosen to violate their oaths and put greed ahead of their patients.”

COMMENTS:
Official estimates are that it will cost $1.3 billion to build the wall along the U.S.-Mexican border.  Results after several border walls were built in foreign countries is that the wall will reduce illegal immigration by 90%; since those people either end up in jail for committing crimes or end up as extra cost burdens to the American society, the savings will be even more.  The real question here is why didn’t Loretta Lynch catch these crooks?

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. How do you feel about the latest Russia flap with Donald Trump Jr.?  (Magdalena ~ Santa Fe, NM)
A. This is not about investigating wrongdoing and bringing people to justice; it’s about trying to usurp the election and the democratic process.  If this was about routing out corruption and holding people accountable for their actions, they’d also be sincerely investigating Obama, Clinton, Lynch, Rice, Comey, Holder and a few others.  They’re not, which reveals their true intentions and I, for one, am sick and tired of this continuous unadulterated horse manure.

Q. Any thoughts on the hundreds of New York City cops who turned their backs on New York’s Mayor de Blasio the other day?  (Ginny ~ Igo, CA)
A. He should just fire every damned one of them.  I mean, he’s a radical, left-wing, liberal Communist, so he can do that.  He doesn't like cops anyway, so why have them?

Q. I’m so afraid that Congress is going to just patch up ObamaCare and claim victory.  Don’t they care what we, the people, think?  (Lucinda ~ Pomona, CA)
A. I don’t think there’s a person in Congress, Democrat, Republican or otherwise, who really gives a hoot about what we think or want.  They’re in their own little worlds, and we’re excluded.  They have no principles, no scruples and no consciences.  I can hardly wait for November of 2018.

WASHINGTON TIMES NAILS IT: IT’S THE DEMS WHO ARE COLLUDING WITH RUSSIANS

Democrats have willfully and repeatedly peddled, discredited and disputed information to tarnish President Donald Trump and his administration, begging the question of who's actually colluding with Russia, The Washington Times reports.

COMMENTS:
What is even worse is that Congressional Republicans have taken absolutely no steps to support Trump.  They have therefore become complicit in the effort to force Trump out of office, and every damned one of them, along with their liberal progressive Democrat cohorts needs to be removed from office in November of 2018.  We’re going to have to do that ourselves; nobody manufactures a strong enough pesticide to get the job done otherwise.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What do you know about this so-called Russian lawyer who reportedly met with Trump Jr. and has the Democrats foaming at the mouth?  (Ginger ~ Auburn, CA)
A. She has been linked to Fusion GPS, an operative of the Democrat Party.  In other words, the whole “meeting” was intended to be a set up. She has also been allegedly spotted at several Obama rallies or conferences.  The Democrats need to be fully exposed for who and what they are… liars, schemers and pure anti-American trash.

Q. What’s your opinion on using U.S., money to build the Mexican border wall?  (Chester ~ Lexington, KY)
A. The wall absolutely has to be built.  We have to secure that border permanently and effectively before we can deal with the issues of illegals in the country.  And the people employed in designing, permitting and building the wall, along with providing materials and equipment, will have a positive impact on a labor market that is still in horrible shape.

Q. Do you think the Senate will accomplish anything productive by delaying its August recess?  (Boyd ~ Tulelake, CA)
A. No.  I think it’s an exercise in futility and designed solely for the purpose of making us think they really want to do their jobs.  Were they serious and if they really thought they could come together and get something accomplished, they would have agreed to work straight thru until the major issues they are facing are resolved.

80 ARRESTED DURING CAPITOL HILL PROTESTS

At least eighty leftist protesters have been rounded up, charged and taken to jail.  Protests against the House and Senate Health Care bills were organized by such groups as MoveOn.org.

COMMENTS:
It’s way past the time when we should have been doing just that.  They flatly refused to dissipate or move when asked.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. With both China and Russia firmly on the side of North Korea, how is Trump ever going to be able to rein in Kim Jong-Un?  (Tiffany ~ Lewiston, ID)
A. I think the obvious answer is to load up Japan with missiles and nukes capable of reaching both countries.  Neither of them wants Japan to have nukes, so that becomes a major bargaining chip for us.  We could also cut off the supply of little yellow rubber duckies Kim Jong-Un has floating in his bathtub.

Q. I heard from one pundit that Mayor De Blasio went to Hamburg for the sole purpose of making a statement and getting ready to run for president.  Do you actually think the jackass would have the guts to run?  (Byron ~ Tremonton, UT)
A. Oh yes, it’s likely to be a huge shark-fest in the Democrat Party 2020, don’t you think?  Let’s tally up the likely candidates: Chuck the Schmuck, Pocahontas, Michelle, Crazy Hillary and Wiley Bill.

Q. United Airlines did it again a few days ago, by taking away a seat from a 2-year-old and making him sit in his mother’s lap; his mother had paid $1,000 for that seat and was told by the attendant that it was just too bad, because the flight was overbooked.  Why doesn’t the FAA do something about them?  (Sun ~ Denver, CO)
A. I agree; somebody surely needs to clip their wings.  I’m surprised people still fly on that airline.

OBAMA DESPERATELY TRIES TO SAVE FACE

Former President Barack Hussein Obama has been playing the “shadow government” game ever since President Trump took office.  If Trump plans to go visit Merkel, Obama jumps on a plane and goes to visit Merkel.  When Trump headed for the G20, Obama promptly booked a trip to leaders of many of those countries.

COMMENTS:

It’s the old “kiss ass” game.  You always have to smooch up to other people to protect your legacy because, you know damned well your legacy will not stand on its own merits.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:

Q. Why does everyone seem to be second-guessing Trump?  (Yollie ~ Tonopah, NV)
A. Because they lost the election and now they’re on the outside looking in, trying to gain traction.

Q. How do you feel about Senator McCain coming out and saying that the Republican effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare is dead?  (Lucille ~ Ogden, UT)
A. For the first time in the 31 years I’ve had an eye on John McCain, I think he’s correct.  The GOP boys have been home for a brief recess and have had an earful from us that both the House Bill and the proposed Senate Bill are nowhere near being up to the standards of good and sound legislation.  In other words, after all of the huffing and puffing, they flat suck.

Q. What is your opinion about Trump’s trip to the G-20 and everything that happened along the way?  (Buck ~ Windsor, CA)
A. I think he conducted himself admirably, and that as time goes on more and more people will come to understand how truly lucky we are to have him in our country at this time.
