OBAMA CAMPAIGN FINED $375,000 BY FEC

The Federal Elections Commission has fined the 2008 Obama Election campaign $375,000 for failing to disclose donors of $250,000 or more in the final weeks of the campaign, misreporting the dates of some $85 million in donations, and for keeping over $1.3 million in funds at the end of the campaign.  It is one of the largest fines ever levied against a campaign.  The FEC did not address the issue of whether or not the campaign accepted illegal foreign contributions. 

COMMENTS:

There is an outright piece of corruption involved here.  Note that the fine is for the 2008 campaign, an action that should have taken place within the first year after the campaign.  Here we are, after Obama has won reelection, and the news leaks out in the midst of an extended holiday weekend.  The Obama team did not contest the levy and has agreed to pay the fine.  So now, four years after that election, we find out that we have been saddled with a President who was willing to break the law in order to win.  And we haven’t even gotten to the 2012 campaign yet.

A. It’s beyond irresponsible.  You want to keep illegal guns out of the hands of criminals, yet you are now providing them with locations they can burglarize and steal guns.  You are also putting the law-abiding gun owner in the position of having to be extra wary, lest some crazy loon decides he’s going to try and have a gunfight.  None of us want others to know we have guns because we don’t want to be put in the position of having to use them.  All this movement is, is an overt attempt to ostracize and marginalize legitimate gun owners and it’s a dangerous idea.  Personally, I think we should publish the names and addresses of left-wing liberals and whether or not they have ever been charged with a crime.   

Q. Our Constitution is over 200 years old.  Times have changed.  Shouldn’t we redraft it?  (Clem ~ Redding, CA)

A. No, we should reinvigorate it.  There are those who want to change it, but for their own good and not the common good.  It has served this country well and is the model of good government; dozens of other governments in other countries have been born and died while ours is still alive.  I think I would get rid of the electoral system, put in a balanced-budget amendment, and put on term limits; that’s all.  Oh, yeah… I’d put Pelosi’s district out on Alcatraz Island. 

Q. I’m nervous about the ability under ObamaCare to share my private medical records with government agencies and credit rating firms.  Should I be?  (Helen ~ San Angelo, TX)

A. A recent study shows that 94% of the nation’s hospitals have had confidential patient records stolen or leaked.  Add to that insurance companies, medical offices, Medicare and now a myriad of other official government snooping agencies and just what chance do you have that your records will be leaked?  Hmmm… I see here that you suffer from droopy eyelids…

FRANKFARTER WANTS KERRY’S SENATE SEAT!

“Retiring” Massachusetts Congressman Barney "Frankfarter” has told his Governor that he wants Senator John Kerry’s Senate seat; Kerry has been nominated for Secretary of State.  “A month ago, or a few weeks ago, I said I wasn’t interested,” Frank remarked. “It was kind of like you’re about to graduate, and they said: ‘You gotta go to summer school.’ But [the fiscal cliff deal] now means that February, March and April are going to be among the most important months in American financial history.”

COMMENTS:

Here’s the guy, who along with Charles Dodd, presided over the worst housing crisis in American history.  They were solely to blame for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and hundreds of thousands of foreclosures.  And he wants to be there in the middle of “the most important months in American financial history?”   Isn’t this just going to be a gay old time!

A. Absolutely not.  Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the U.S.  Yet, Chicago leads the nation in gun-related violence.  Handguns there are rarely purchased through legal channels.  The hoods recognize that most Chicagoans cannot legally own guns, so they have less fear of doing crimes with their own guns.  FBI stats reflect that the lowest percentages of crime occur in areas where gun ownership laws are the most liberal. 

Q. I read that Nancy Pelosi arranged for the Democratic women of Congress to appear on the Capitol steps for a photo op, but four didn’t show up.  So she ordered that he photo be retouched, adding the four into the photo.  How phony can you get?  (Wanda ~ Fairfield, CA)

A. Nancy wanted the photo to be perfect to the nth degree.  She will lie, cheat and steal in order to maintain appearances.  Isn’t she so anal?  Wouldn’t you just love to have her for your mother-in-law?   

Q. I heard on the news that the fiscal crisis legislation just signed into law was loaded with special tax breaks for “favored” businesses.  Most of those affected gave heavily to Obama’s reelection campaign.  Isn’t this a violation of the law?  (Penelope ~ Oswego, OR)

A. Yes, it is.  But, Obama was reelected; he doesn’t have to comply with the law, remember?

HOUSE OF CARDS ABOUT TO FOLD?

There they were, in the waning hours of this Congressional session, charged with the duty of doing what is right for the country. Yet, while they were having top-secret negotiations of the so-called “fiscal crisis” in the back room, they failed to deal with the disaster Sandy left behind and they failed to deal with a renewal of the Violence Against Women Act, two top-priority pieces of legislation that could have been handled in the front room while the bull was going on in the back room.    

COMMENTS:

The House Republicans proved beyond a reasonable doubt that they are not up to the tasks of getting the things done that this country needs to get done.  It’s obvious that, should they control both Houses and the Presidency, they still don’t have the skills or the desire to do the job.  After being faced with a totally ticked off America of both parties and a rancorous outcry from party stalwarts, the House leadership reluctantly agreed to deal with the Sandy issue today.  How dumb can you get?  And nothing about violence against women?  The House Republicans are outflanked and irrelevant in all respects.  The worse thing is that they all believe it’s Obama’s fault.

Q. I understand that Al Gore sold his Current TV Network to Al Jazeera, the Al Qaeda network.  Can’t he be jailed for aiding and abetting the enemy?  How can they broadcast in the U.S. anyway?  I’m outraged.  (Jeremy ~ Costa Mesa, CA)

A. The Current Network is a cable network and there is nothing in the U.S. law that prohibits foreign ownership of a cable station.  Al Gore, like his left-wing liberal friends, doesn’t care whether you are outraged or not; you, sir, are a pissant.  And now that the left-wing progressive liberals have succeeded in totally taking over the government, they can do anything they want; and they will.  Al Jazeera says it wants the venue because there are hundreds of thousands of Muslims living in the United States and it has the right to broadcast to them.  Somehow, I don’t believe they intend to broadcast Patti Paige music.   

Q. I believe, as you do, that we should have a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.  How do we make that happen?  (Darvon ~ Redding, CA)

A. I could supply you with that answer, but you should already know where to find it.  This tells me you have not read, at least recently, the Constitution.  Look it up on the Internet and see what it says about Amendments.  It’s several paragraphs before “condiments.” 

Q. The Republicans keep saying that Obama wants them divided and ruined.  Is that true?  (Harley ~ Hurricane, UT)

A. Let’s be honest with ourselves.  The Republicans have been ineffective and in disarray since Reagan left office.  George H.W. Bush rode in on his coattails; otherwise, he never would have been elected to the Presidency.  Clinton took advantage of GHWB’s blatant ineffectiveness while the Republicans continued to disintegrate.  Bush 2 came along and won squeakers against Gore and Kerry, both very weak candidates.  Bush’s win was an accident, as far as I am concerned; he never should have been nominated.  And when he was President, the Republicans garnered control of both houses of Congress and could not accomplish diddly-squat.  As the party continued on its path of self-destruction, it put up McCain and Romney, two very weak candidates and both against the wishes of the party membership.  And even with control of the House, just what Obama agenda have they been successful in stopping?  But, Obama didn’t do “it” to the Republican Party; they did it to themselves, because they lost their values, they lost their loyal membership and they lost their resolve to stand up for both.

TIME FOR A NEW POLITICAL PARTY

Just before the new “fixit” was passed by Congress, the Democrats threw in an extension of the energy tax credit that will cost us another $12 billion.  The new “fixit” will raise the national debt by $4 trillion over the next ten years, without any adjustments for the inflation that is already rearing its ugly head.  The Republicans didn’t even have the guts to add an amendment to the Senate’s lousy piece of legislation to prohibit earmarks to it. 

 

COMMENTS:

The Republicans proved in the November elections and again Tuesday night that they lack the leadership to adhere to the party platform and conservative values.  They got stuck exactly the way they got stuck with ObamaCare.  You don’t have to be a Republican to share the American values of living within your means; Democrats and Independents alike want decreased debt and a balanced budget.  I believe a new political party can attract enough people from all segments of our society to make a third party not only viable, but a winner.  Will someone please step up to the plate and get it on?

GRAB THE VASELINE; HERE IT COMES!

The U.S. Senate has made clear what it wants to do with the American public; it passed a $600 billion tax increase and a measly $15 billion spending cut which was set to take place anyway.  Then it kicked the can down the road for another two months regarding the looming spending cuts which are supposed to take place today.  Included in this legislation is a provision to allow the reduced payroll withholdings to expire, which means that your Social Security payroll deduction is going back up to 6.2%. 

COMMENTS:

There are many other provisions contained in this legislation and, at blogging time last night, it appeared the House would pass the legislation, evidently operating on the theory that bad legislation is better that no legislation at all.  And, it appears that the $600 billion in increased taxes will not go toward paying down the debt; Obama is going to use it to increase government spending.

A. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "good old days," so let's take it in a general concept.  Social norms generally follow the examples of the leadership of a country.  Our Members of Congress are an ugly lot accomplishing little, if any, good for the general populace.  Our criminal justice system is falling apart at the seams; our President is so self-absorbed that he fails to recognize that the rest of the country exists at all.  Our religious leaders are meek and silent.  Our educational system is so left-leaning that it is distorting the very definition of “American values.”  And, those in this country who just don’t care what happens to the country obviously outnumber those that do.  So, short of another American Revolution, I don’t see how we can ever return to the “good old days.”

Q. With this latest talk about the Fiscal Cliff, I haven’t heard anyone really address the situation of the debt ceiling.  Is Obama going to get his way and have Presidential powers to raise it whenever he wants?  (Holly ~ Laughlin, NV)

A. I haven’t really been able to discern whether or not it is part of this latest package or not.  I know that Geithner has officially notified the President and the Congress that the ceiling has been reached.  I know that Lindsey Graham was urging Republicans to sign on to this latest deal and save the fight for the debt ceiling.  He says there’s no sense huffing and puffing up until the end and then “folding like a cheap suit.”  I’ve got news for him; they’ve been folding like cheap suits for four years now.  You’d think they would at least dust them off now and then. 

Q. With the news floating around in Washington right now about Benghazi and the summation that State, Defense and the Administration “blew it” in protecting the Consulate, do you think that’s the whole reason they had the cover up?  (Blaine ~ Durango, CO)

A. No, it is definitely not that simple.  There’s something far bigger and more sinister waiting to be discovered.  Otherwise they wouldn’t be wiggling like the worms they are on the hook.
