PRICE OF VITAMINS MAY SOAR

The FDA has now decided that the vitamin industry in the country has gotten to be so big that it needs regulating.  It intends, under two new proposals, to crack down on the labeling, testing, manufacture and distribution of vitamins and supplements.  This move is estimated to double the price of all vitamins within the next few years and would force the reclassification of food additives and dietary supplements to be managed by the FDA.

COMMENTS:
The think the EPA should be involved as well, because the bodily wastes we produce could be affected by the vitamins we take, and the air we breathe in and out could affect global warming.  The Department of Health and Human Services should weigh in on this, pardon the play on words, because we are too fat; vitamins may have an effect on that and, while they’re at it, they can legislate smaller spoons, forks and dinner plates.  The Department of Justice, of course, will be faced with jailing those of us who elect to buy our vitamins from Mexico or Canada at a lower price.  All of this means they will have to add 50,000 more employees on the government rolls to administer these things and… taxes will go up.  No wonder the Native Americans don’t like us; we sure have screwed up their country.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I just saw a video describing the contents of ObamaCare and I got so angry to think that Congress actually passed this atrocity.  It’s such a horrible piece of legislation.  Can’t we find some way to abolish it?  (Chip ~ Bridgeport, CA)
A. Hopefully, the Supreme Court will.  Besides being a horrible medical plan, it is a huge government power grab over you and me.

Q. I was just reading an article about the benefits of drinking chocolate milk after your work out.  Isn’t that contradictory?  (Samantha ~ Redding, CA)
A. Hah!  I knew a guy who used to run four laps around a lake every day, then run back to his office and take the elevator to the second floor instead of jogging up the stairs.  I used to tell myself that it was healthy to ride my bike five miles into town to have pizza and beer.  Let’s face it: if you’re nuts, you’re nuts.

Q. Banks are rethinking their plans to charge for ATM debit-card usage.  I guess that’s because everyone is madder than hell.  What do you think?  (Chris ~ Reno, NV)
A. Like I've said, banks are businesses, they have stockholders and they need to make a profit.  If Obama cuts some of their credit card fees, they have to make that loss of income up someplace.  I do think ATM and debit cards were a poor choice to do that,  so I expect the next move will be to do away with free checking accounts for seniors and interest bearing checking accounts.

JERRY BROWN FIGHTS UNIONS

California Governor Jerry Brown has a sweeping new budget proposal that calls for cutting back on union benefits for state workers.  Brown outlined his long-term vision for turning around California on Thursday with his plan to move new state workers to a hybrid retirement system where guaranteed benefits are combined with a 401(k)-style plan. Civil state employees hired after the plan takes effect would be eligible for full retirement benefits at 67, instead of 60. He also wants current employees to contribute at least half of the cost of their pension benefits.

COMMENTS:
I need a good, stiff drink.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What’s your opinion on Rick Perry saying he’s going to bow out of a lot of debates?  (Kenny ~ Prescott, AZ)
A. That’s exactly what you should do when you’re sinking in the polls; reduce your exposure to a national audience.  He must be a closet Democrat.  Oh?  He was a Democrat?

Q. I hear there may be two third parties, in other words four parties, by the time this election is over?  (Megan ~ Atlanta, GA)
A. There’s a group of well-heeled Democrats going after Hillary with Bloomberg for VP; there remains the possibility that Trump could jump in with Bachmann or Palin.  Any way you slice the cake, Cain seems to be in charge at this point.

Q. There surely was a lot of traffic in Burney on Thursday night.  What happened?  (Benny ~ Burney, CA)
A. CHP diverted I-5 traffic at Mt. Shasta City through Burney and back down the hill to Redding because, as I understand it, some guy shot a police dog and a chase ensued down I-5.  The dog is fine.  The guy ended up in an accident, was shot and shot back, and that’s all I know about that, except that several CHP vehicles were casualties.  The guy was flown to the hospital and is in guarded condition at Mercy Hospital.  The diversion lasted about seven hours and had traffic backed up for about 40 miles.

OBAMA ON THE TAKE FROM LOBBYISTS!

Faced with a steep decline in the number of smaller, individual campaign donors, President Obama is now breaking his own campaign “rules” and taking money from lobbyists.   Obama has said many times he will not accept money from lobbyists, and he is flaunting his rule by taking contributions from unregistered lobbyists and claiming they are not really lobbyists.  Initial reports show that the “unregistered” lobbyists are working for or with registered lobbying firms and are bundling contributions.

COMMENTS:
Even when the people are voting against him with their lack of contributions, he manages to find a way to treat them like dirt.  Who is running this country anyway; us, or the lobbyists?

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I think this was the best World Series I’ve seen in several years.  What do you think?  (Slick ~ Bullhead City, AZ)
A. I agree, but I was disappointed not to see Hank Aaron or Pete Rose in the game.

Q. If you had to choose between Mitt Romney and Rick Perry today, which one would you choose for the Republican nominee?  (Georgia ~ Reno, NV)
A. Donald Duck, as a write-in candidate.

Q. I’m nervous.  A recent TIME Magazine report shows that Hillary Clinton could easily win over any of the Republican candidates.  (Art ~ Eureka, CA)
A. I said a few months ago that I thought it would be a possibility that she might run.  The question is: can she beat Barack Obama?  Now, if Hillary ran against Romney or Rick Perry, I might vote for her.  As for the other Republican candidates, I would be inclined to vote for one of them before her.  But, we don’t have to fret; she has said several times that she is no longer interested in the job.  On the other hand, if I turn out being correct that Obama would not finish his first term....

GREENSPAN: EUROPEAN UNION WILL FAIL

"At the outset of the creation of the euro in 1999, it was expected that the southern eurozone economies would behave like those in the north; the Italians would behave like Germans. They didn’t," Alan Greenspan told CNBC in an exclusive interview.  Simply put, the northerner’s are being taken advantage of by the southerners and the union will fail.  More ominous, Greenspan went on to say that the U.S. economy is being driven by Europe and that today, there is one big, giant global stock market.

COMMENTS:
A lot of my Republican friends will say they never liked Greenspan.  But, I do.  I think he did a remarkable job in steering our economy for many, many years and I listen to what he says.  And, the stock market did soar yesterday with news that Greece is getting its bailout.  Obama is trying to paint our picture to be much rosier than it is and I do not believe one single word that comes out of his mouth.  In fact, if he said “Good morning,” I’d be the first one in the bomb shelter.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I just heard that ObamaCare is going to glom on to my personal medical records, put them all together and make them part of one big government file.  They have my financial information from the IRS and banks, my military records, and I suspect they have my voting records.  Isn’t this an invasion of my privacy?  (Vi ~ Shingletown, CA)

A. Yes. We all need to stand together and tell them to go to hell.  We have never given our consent for anyone to have our private medical records under HIPPA, unless we sign for it.  That’s their law they are violating and I’m madder than a wet peacock.

Q. I know you like Herman Cain.  Are you endorsing him?  (Peg ~ Auburn, WA)
A. Not yet, although I don’t know who else I might endorse at this point.

Q. I see that Rick Perry has come out against issuing a Texas vehicle plate for the “Sons of Confederate Veterans” that would display the Confederate flag.  Is he trying to erase history?  (Molly ~ Norfolk, VA)
A. He says we don’t need to bring up that old wound again, but I don’t see it that way.  You are right that it is part of our history and, although the era was ugly, it is part of our evolution into becoming what we are today.  I don’t see it as being offensive to anyone, but maybe I am wrong; it’s obviously offensive to Rick Perry.

ROMNEY, REPUBLICAN HIERARCHY LINING UP AGAINST CAIN

The higher Cain’s figures get in the polls, the more heat he is getting; you can expect that from the Democrats.  Now, however, the Romney Republicans and Fox News seem to be lining up against Cain, parading endless reasons why the guy cannot win and should not be considered. A recent ad featuring a smoking campaign chairman has drawn the ire of virtually everyone in the political world, except for those who like and support Herman Cain.

COMMENTS:
I’ve said for several years that the two parties should really merge and become one.  The leadership of neither party likes Cain because he is fresh, he can’t be bought, he’s Conservative and he tells it like it is.  But, these are the qualities we need in a President right now.  We surely don’t need any more of the Obama or Romney style of leadership, slick, polished and untrustworthy.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. How can it be that there is no record of Obama’s mother ever being at the hospital where he was born?  (Hannah ~ Great Falls, MT)
A. That’s even more proof that he is the Messiah. A miracle has occurred.

Q. What did you think of Obama’s housing proposals in Las Vegas the other day?  (Vinny ~ Reno, NV)
A. If you analyze the proposal, it is all a whole bunch of great sounding hot air.  Any other President in history would not be out on the campaign trail.  Right or wrong, they would be holed up in the White House trying their best to lead the nation out of this mess.  That, really, speaks to Obama’s great betrayal of this nation.
Q. With these new tax proposals being put out there, what do you favor?  (Gordon ~ Red Bluff, CA)
A. I favor a 99% tax rate on the gross income of all politicians.
