NUCLEAR PROBLEMS ESCALATE IN JAPAN

Tons of highly radiated water have leaked from Japan’s Fukushima Nuclear Facility into the ground; officials have said the water could spill into the Pacific Ocean.  Plant employees continue to struggle in trying to bring the reactors under control.  They have yet to get internal pumps working properly to circulate water and keep reactors cooled.

COMMENTS:
Isn’t it amazing what news continues to evolve while the Casey Anthony trial goes on and on?

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  Is it possible they will not raise the debt ceiling by August 2nd?  (Ardith ~ Colusa, CA)
A.  Yes, and unless there are some serious spending reductions, the ceiling should not be raised.  We have to stop this endless and reckless nonsense somehow.

Q.  Why are 40% of computer users still using Windows XP operating systems?  (Brook ~ Jackson Hole, WY)
A.  I have two computers, a desktop and a laptop.  The desktop has XP and the Laptop has Windows 7.  I do most of my work on the desktop.  For me to evolve to Windows 7 on the desktop I would have to buy a new computer and I do have a good one with lots of bells and whistles.  Then, I have to buy a lot of new software, so the total tab is about $2,800.  Then, I have to load that software plus transfer another 50 pieces of software and data… there goes a week of time.  The desk top is working great.  It does everything I need it to.  Windows 7 does not offer me that much more.  So, why should I switch? I'd still be using Windows ME if my prior computer hadn't died.

Q.  They sure tore after Michele Bachmann over saying John Wayne was born in Waterloo, Iowa.  Why?  (Samantha ~ Redding, CA)
A.  Since they can’t discuss policy on an intellectual level, they have to be mean spirited.  I would be willing to say that less than 5% of Americans knew where John Wayne was born.

AL QAEDA THREAT HIGH

Much of the data found in Osama’s lair indicates that Al Qaeda was very interested in July 4th as a day for instigating terror against the United States.  The Department of Homeland Security is taking this information seriously.

COMMENTS:
We don’t know yet what effect, if any, Osama’s death has had on their objectives.  We don’t know if they have the developed strategic pieces in place to accomplish such an act.  Nevertheless, plan on being careful who you let play with your firecrackers.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  What was this argument from the defense that Casey Anthony is not fit to stand trial?  Shouldn’t that have happened back before the trial started?  (Carl ~ Sun Valley, ID)
A.  Yes.  So, this suggestion at this point in the trial tells me that the defense knows it is in deep dung.  It also really opens the door for an appeal or retrial on the basis that the defense was not competent, or it would have brought the issue up before the trial started.  Given the evidence that has been presented so far, she should have pleaded “not guilty by reason of insanity.”  I think she would have gotten off under that plea.

Q.  Is there any indication yet of what Glenn Beck will be doing after he leaves FOX News?  (Bob ~ Redding, CA)
A.  Check out www.gbtv.com

Q.  What’s all of the fuss about GPS?  (Debra ~ Lihue, HI)
A.  They can track your movements by following your cellphone pings.  The question is whether or not it is legal for a law enforcement agency to do that, or to attach a GPS device to your car, without a warrant.

BLAGO IS GUILTY; UFO OVER ENGLAND

Rod Blagojevich, the effervescent two-term governor of Illinois, has been found guilty of a wide variety of corruption charges including trying to sell Obama’s former Senate Seat.  Blagojevich becomes the second consecutive Illinois governor convicted of corruption; George Ryan is now serving 6 1/2 years in federal prison. When sentenced later this year, Blagojevich is probably going to get a prison term that could be 10 to 15 years.

COMMENTS:
To me, it is a breath of fresh air.  I believe that those in government service who are corrupt should definitely pay the penalty.  What I have observed, nevertheless, is that these things are not universal; they are selective in their prosecution.  As a final thought, Obama’s seat wasn’t worth a nickel and I do not understand why anyone would want to pay for it.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  There is so much violence available to young people these days.  I am upset that the Supreme Court ruled against California’s law against selling violent videos and games to minors.  What do you think?  (Celeste ~ Yuba City, CA)
A.  I agree with your concern, but here’s the issue: We Americans have a First Amendment right to free speech, and therein lies the right to produce and sell video games that contain violence and are offensive to the normal person.  Pornography is in the same general category.  Should we allow a law to stop this, we are abrogating the First Amendment and opening the door to stopping freedom of speech.  The real answer, then, is that parents have an intrinsic obligation to raise their children properly.  God forbid that we should be held accountable for raising our own children… right?

Q.  Now that Michele has made her interest in the Presidency official, will Sarah Palin also announce?  (Tsosie – Gallup, NM)
A.  They have become friends.  I think that they have had this conversation and that Sarah will not run.  Maybe she’ll end up on the ticket as a Vice-Presidential candidate, but I think she will end up in a cabinet post, such as Energy or EPA if Bachmann goes all of the way.  Hmmmm.  That’s interesting.  Will Bachmann go all of the way?

Q.  Obama is running around saying that the Republicans and Democrats will definitely reach a deal on raising the debt limit.  Is this already a done deal?  (Clark ~ Seattle, WA)
A.  It very well could be and all of the bickering could be window dressing, smoke and mirrors and a charade.  But, Obama would never participate in such trickery, would he?

MICHELLE’S GOVERNMENT VACATION

Michelle Obama, her two daughters, her mother, and two nephews have been visiting South Africa for the past week on an official government visit.

COMMENTS:
Good for Michelle, having a vacation at the taxpayer’s expense.  Meanwhile, the nation is getting closer and closer to its current debt ceiling.  What further commentary is necessary?

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What’s going on with Gaddafi? Is he leaving or not?  (Harley ~ Boseman, MT)
A. The Libyan government is trying to persuade everyone that it should hold a vote to determine whether or not the citizens want him to go.  His opponents are not happy about it, but it’s their country and I believe that a fairly conducted vote should be a viable option. Many analysts say Gaddafi and his family have no intention of relinquishing power, but that he is holding out the possibility of a deal to try to widen cracks in the alliance against him.  Maybe Obama should fly over there and have a beer with him?

Q.  If we get out of Afghanistan, will Al Qaeda take over again?  (Patsy ~ Chester, CA)
A.  Al Qaeda and the Taliban have been in bed together for a long time.  After Russia left Afghanistan, the Taliban was back in control again almost within hours.  The Taliban has taken over one of the provinces and we were at one time poised to go in there and clean house, but that option now appears to be off the table with troop reductions imminent.  So, if we leave I believe the Taliban will be back in charge of Afghanistan in a heartbeat, and Al Qaeda will be right behind them.  This is what happens, however, when you get into a war that you do not intend to win.

Q.  I heard someplace that Hillary Clinton may resign.  Is she going to go ahead and run against Obama?  (Myrtle ~ Orem, UT)
A.  That is a good possibility.  Right now, the rumble is that she wants to resign so she can take over the World Bank.  If that were to happen, it would be a significant step toward bringing the United States under European economic and social influence; in fact, it sounds like a play out of George Soros’s book.  But, that story could just be a cover for her resignation and she could actually be preparing to take Obama on.  If that happens, you can kiss Obama goodbye and the Republicans will have a very tough time in 2012.  Whatever it is, what George wants, George gets.

CASEY ANTHONY TRIAL DELAYED

The Casey Anthony trial was scheduled to go all day Saturday, but was postponed before it got started after closed-door conferencing between the Judge, the attorneys and Casey.

COMMENTS:
Fox News was caught flat-footed.  They obviously planned to devote their day to the trial because they had a tough time picking up the ball and running with it. Good God, why is everyone obsessed with this trial, anyway?  I’d rather watch reruns of the O.J. Simpson trial. Is there a possibility that a plea deal is in the works?

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  Michelle Bachmann his jumped up there quickly to being tied with the GOP Presidential lead with Mitt Romney.  Do you like her? (Chad ~ Cottonwood, CA)
A.  I don’t know about liking her; I’ve never met her.  As far as the race goes, I rate her right up there with Herman Cain.  She’s refreshing, she has a good honesty record, she’s the darling of the Tea Parties, and she doesn’t seem to be afraid to get in the face of her opponents.  I give both her and Herman Cain high marks, as I would Sarah Palin or Mike Huckabee if they decided to get in.  Although a professed conservative, Romney is too liberal for me. All of the other entrants are nice window dressing.

Q.  What happens if Hugo Chavez dies?  I hear he’s in bad shape.  (Porky ~ Sacramento, CA)
A.  They will have a nice ceremony and then they will bury him.  Note that his country is so advanced that he went to Cuba for his surgery.

Q.  Obama says new technology will create jobs?  (Juanita ~ Auburn, CA)
A.  Obama is grasping at straws.  He has no more of an idea about job creation than he does about the economy.  If he’d stay in town long enough to take some lessons, that would be helpful.  Predominantly, the technology manufacturing jobs are out of the country already.  As far as jobs that use technology, history will show that some jobs are lost with new technology and some are gained, so it’s essentially a wash. What we need is tax incentives to businesses for hiring additional employees.  But, that’ll never happen with Obama in Office.

HOUSE VOTES AGAINST LIBYA

The U.S. House of Representatives voted yesterday to deny authority to President Obama to continue operations in Libya.  The vote was an overwhelming 295-123.  However, the House also voted against a resolution to stop funding for the operation by a vote of 238-180.

COMMENTS:
That’s akin to telling the kids they can never again play in the sandbox and then ordering in a fresh new load of sand.  Well, I guess in this world there are those who have enough testicles to stand up for their principles and there are those who don’t.  Why they even bothered, I will never know.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  Given that Obama is very low in the polls, how could he change things to get himself reelected?  (Lory ~ Santa Maria, CA)
A.  The terrorists and the Iranians and North Koreans of the world would just as soon see him reelected because they know he is weak.  So, there is the possibility of some drastic terrorist attack on the U.S.  Or, he could get us into a war.  Historically, no President has been turned out of office when we were at war.  One thing to remember is that he cannot finish his far-left agenda unless he is President in the second term.  Go ahead, have some Tums.

Q.  Do you think Joe Biden will be Obama’s running mate in 2012? (Annie ~ Yerington, NV)
A.  No.  If he should get to that point, it will be Hillary Clinton.  Want some more Tums?

Q.  Is there any possibility that ObamaCare will be repealed?  (Tyler ~ Washoe Valley, CA)
A.  Yes.  If it happens that the Courts have not already nullified it, we need to ensure a Republican House and Senate in 2012.
