CLINTON WARNS OF NATIONAL SECURITY CONCERNS ABOUT NATION’S DEBT!

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said late Friday that the size of our national debt is causing national security concerns. Clinton said that the US debt has hurt "our ability to protect our security, to manage difficult problems and to show the leadership that we deserve. I do not like to be in a position where the United States is a debtor nation to the extent that we are. We have to address this deficit and the debt of the United States as a matter of national security not only as a matter of economics.”

COMMENTS:
Hillary, dummy up. Barack wants to get his health care plan passed. Your concern for national security is muddying the waters and distracting from the President's priorities.  (Gosh, you want to hold on to your job, don't you?)

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What is going on with the world’s geology? We’re really being hit hard with major earthquakes lately. (Trudy ~ Torrance, CA)
A. Shorelines around the world are essentially on or near fault lines. There is tremendous underwater and underground geologic activity all around the Pacific Rim, which runs from the southern tip of South America up the western coasts of the Americas, around the Aleutians and back down the eastern coasts of Asia, and this fault line is where the majority of major earthquakes occur. That’s what I understand of the science behind your question, but Al Gore might insist that it’s a result of global warming. Maybe if he’d keep his mouth shut, things would cool off.

Q. Has a Tsunami ever hit the continental United States? (Imogene ~ Monterey Park, CA)
A. Seven times that we know of since 900 A.D. The most recent was from Crescent City, California to the Aleutians in 1964 as the result of a major earthquake in Alaska. Scientists are now predicting the next major tsunami to hit Washington, D.C. on Election Day, November 9, 2010.

Q. Although you constantly criticize Washington, you never seem to directly attack Democrats. Why? (Harvey ~ Auburn, WA)
A. Because the vast majority of the serious problems in this country today were caused by both the Democrats and the Republicans. And we, the people, also bear responsibility since we were not alert enough to detect what was going on and to do something about it.

DEMOCRATS WON’T GIVE UP ON HEALTH CARE

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has said that President Obama will announce early next week a new way to get his health care plan passed. There were signs of intensified activity on Capitol Hill and Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod discussed health care in an early evening meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.  Late yesterday, word from "unconfirmed White House sources" indicated that Obama wants his health care plan passed by reconciliation before March 29th...(or else?)

COMMENTS:
I am going to say it for the millions of Americans who are out of work:
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. FOR OVER A YEAR YOU HAVE BEEN OBSESSED WITH PASSING A HEALTH CARE BILL THAT NO ONE WANTS! WE WANT JOBS! WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT JOBS! YOUR DAMNED HEALTH CARE BILL DOESN’T PUT FOOD IN OUR BELLIES OR ROOFS OVER OUR HEADS. CUT THIS CRAP OUT!

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. The more I think about Thursday’s Health Care summit, the angrier I get. Such arrogance they all showed, and Obama really showed his colors. Who in the hell do those bimbos think they are? (Sally Ann ~ Scottsdale, AZ)
A. Be careful how you speak. You are likely to be labeled a racist who is calling them politically incorrect names. You could end up in Guantanamo. But, one thing you can be sure of: When they look down their condescending noses and see you at the end, all they really see is a wart.

Q. What’s this I hear about the California legislature passing a Bill banning cursing? (Hannah ~ El Centro, CA)
A. Yes. Faced with massive budget problems, the Assembly realized that people are cussing at them, so they passed a law banning cussing during the first week of March; the State Senate is expected to pass the bill shortly. I guess there’s more than one way to deal with public dissent.

Q. I’ve been watching all of this political nonsense over the Health Care Bill for over a year now, and it has caused me a nervous breakdown. While I was undergoing treatment, I developed toenail fungus and my insurance plan wouldn’t cover the cost of my over-the-counter medicine. How come my letter wasn’t read at the summit? (Leah ~ Binghamton, NY)
A. You’re still in the asylum, aren’t you?

OBAMA & DEMS TO GOP ON HEALTH CARE: T.S.

The President, House Speaker and Senate Majority Leader made it abundantly clear yesterday that the Democratic Health Care Plan will be passed, regardless of whether or not the opposition signs on to the bill. The “summit” exercise appeared to many to be one-sided and dictatorial, with Democrats holding the floor a majority of the time.

COMMENTS:
The “summit” met all of my expectations as previously stated on this blog and on MY AMERICAN OPINION. This President has made it abundantly clear that he is willing to throw his party under the bus through reconciliation if necessary. Obviously, he is aware that the viable future of his Presidency is on the line; has put it there of his own accord. The sad part is that every time a recent poll was mentioned to show American opposition to the plan as designed, the conversation was summarily redirected and Americans were therefore effectively shut out of the process. I think that move on Obama’s part and on the part of the Democrats will prove to be fatal to all of their future causes. Americans do not respond well to strong-arm tactics.

TODAY’S QUERIES &ANSWERS:
Q. Obama keeps harping about how he saved the economy and yet, according to yesterday’s news, unemployment claims are on the rise again, new housing sales have plummeted, and a huge housing and commercial property foreclosure crisis is just around the corner. How does he get away with these misstatements? (Blondie ~ Schaumberg, IL)
A. You just keep asking those questions. Ask your friends who believe in this Obama Administration. Ask the guy in the convenience store. Ask your neighbors and friends.

Q. What effect do you think the Health Care summit will have on the November elections? (Buck ~ Eureka, CA)
A. If it was up to me, I’d run off whoever was in the room except for Lamar Alexander. He showed some courage in standing up for Americans and, although he got dumped on by Obama and his stooges in the process, he appeared sincere in trying to turn the “summit” into something that really could have been productive. He should have received 100% backing from his colleagues, and I thought that was lacking.  In this farcical process, Obama also made it clear by his actions that he doesn't really care how many Democrats he loses in November, and it becomes increasingly possible that every Democratic seat up for reelection could be lost, either to a Republican, an independent, or a new Democrat.  And, if I were a Democrat seeking election or reelection, I'd be obliged to ask the President not to campaign for me.

Q. I thought the Republicans showed a lot more class yesterday through their restraint in replying on some hostile remarks the Dems made. What do you think? (Mandee ~ Wadsworth, NV)
A. If you are going to effectively scrap with people who are used to gutter politics, you need to be prepared to get down into the gutter with them.  I know the country doesn't like gutter politics, but the
future of our country is at stake here.

OBAMA’S HEALTH CARE PLAN: The Big Lie

Administration officials have claimed that Obama’s personalized version of the health care plan would cost $950 billion over 10 years and that he not only has the cost covered, but the plan will save us money. The OMB and the CBO have been unable to assign their own cost estimates. According to a recent Heritage Foundation report, the President’s rosy picture is based on some false assumptions and will actually cost closer to $2.5 trillion over 10 years.

COMMENTS:
All math coming out of this Administration has been fuzzy at best. Remember that this is the Administration that claimed hundreds of thousands of jobs created or saved in Congressional districts that don’t exist. All “facts” coming out of the White House for the last 13 months have been proven to be incorrect, misstated or misleading. It’s shameful.

TODAY’S QUERIES ANSWERS:
Q. You sure have been blunt in your assessment of President Obama these past few days. Do you think that other Presidents have been so lily pure? (Maxine ~ Chicago, IL)
A. Absolutely not. We’ve had two good Presidents in my lifetime: Truman and Reagan. Everyone else has suffered from varying degrees of bad leadership of America. Well, I forgot about Nixon; everyone accused him of being a crook, but he was not a crook. He was a thug. Obama is starting to make Nixon look like a saint.

Q. About a week ago, you said only 18% of Americans have a favorable view of Congress. How low can they sink? (Ollie ~ Prescott, AZ)
A. A recent Rasmussen poll has 10% thinking Congress is doing its job. 71% rate Congress poor, a total of 89% say poor or fair. That’s why we have to throw them all out…

Q. There’s a story that some Indian tribes in North and South Dakota and Wyoming are making huge money from oil and that they sit on the single largest deposit of oil ever discovered. Is that true? (Stan ~ Willard, UT)
A. There is a significant oil deposit there, but I understand that estimates of its size are overstated. They also have a problem in getting the oil to market due to the lack of pipelines. And, they’re burning off a huge amount of natural gas for the same reason. They’ve got almost as much natural gas there as you’ll find on Capitol Hill.

THOUGHT POLICE REVVING UP

At least one major news network, FOX, has come out and chastised bloggers and others for remarks made about President Obama, saying that accusations that he is a Socialist or a Communist or without a birth certificate are cruel, crude and shouldn’t be made; it’s not polite.

COMMENTS:
This Astroturf, un-American, radical right-wing extremist, former military-type, is not going to shut up and get out of the way over this issue. You can grab your censorship platform and gag orders and take a flying leap on a pogo stick. This is by far the worst President this country has ever had or probably will have, and we have a solid American right to opine about it, bluntly and forcefully.

TODAY’S QUERIES &ANSWERS:
Q. Eric Holder has been hiring lawyers who have defended terrorists in the past and he’s refusing to name them or to discuss their past cases? Don’t we have a right to know? (Blanche ~ Springfield, MO)
A. Not according to him.  By the way, have you turned in your guns to him yet?

Q. If Obama and his Congressional cohorts manage to shove this Health Care plan through, as you have said you think will happen, what do you think the reaction of the country will be to that? (Ginger ~ Alturas, CA)
A. This country is very, very angry over the deficit, over unemployment, over cap and trade, and especially over Obama's arrogant insistence regarding the health care plan. I simply don’t know what the reaction will be and, quite frankly, I’m afraid to speculate, other than to say I don’t think we’ll simply be sending him a bunch of tea bags.

Q. What did you think of Toyota’s apology? (Tyrone ~ Biloxi, MS)
A. If you changed some words here and there, it sounded a lot like Tiger’s apology. I wonder if they’re taking counseling.

OBAMA’S HEALTH CARE FARCE UNVEILED

And it’s SUPPOSEDLY not much different than what the Senate passed. The government-run option seems to be gone, but government-funded abortions are still in. The tax on high-quality insurance programs is still on and the S.E.I.U. members still don’t have to pay it. Insurance would still be mandatory for all Americans. The White House says that the plan will cut costs, but it doesn’t lay out how the $1 trillion cost will be covered. The Congressional Budget Office says it doesn’t have enough details to put a price tag on it.

COMMENTS:
Contrary to White House spin that the entire proposal was on the White House website, I found only summaries, “key” points and no details. Evidently, the President still has a lot to hide.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. If the President wants the Republicans to sit down and provide input into the Health Care Plan on the 25th, how come he already wrote the plan? (Chelsea ~ Hanford, WA)
A. Because he knows what the Republicans are going to say. You forget that he is the all seeing, all knowing messiah. It does appear to be a dog and pony show, doesn’t it?

Q. In his first major vote, Scott Brown sided with the Democrats on the jobs bill. Why? (Eugene ~ Bedford, MA)
A. You’d have to ask him but… We’ve desperately needed a jobs bill for a year now and Obama and Congress have been so focused on their Government power-grab Health Care Plan that they’ve virtually ignored the unemployed. To me, that’s criminal and inhumane. I think Brown sees it the same way, and any step in the right direction right now is a step worth taking.

Q. Now government wants to require hot dogs to be redesigned? I’ve had enough of this “big brother” dictatorship. (Fawn ~ Missoula, MT)
A. So has most of the rest of the country. That’s one thing this Health Care Plan would do, to give the government the power to say hot dogs or marshmallows are bad for your health, so they are banned. I’m not giving that kind of power over me to anyone, least of all Obama and his stooges.

CALIFORNIA’S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

As of December 2009, the unemployment rate in California is 12.4%, up from 11.9% in July. Here’s the tally on some cities of interest: Bakersfield - 15.8%; Chico - 13.4%; Fresno – 16.8%; Los Angeles Metro – 12.0%; Oakland Metro – 10.9%; Redding – 15.9%; Sacramento – 12.3%; San Francisco Metro – 8.9%; Yuba City – 19.6%. These figures are not seasonally adjusted, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

COMMENTS:
It appears to me that the place to look is in the Bay Area. Keep in mind that these figures do not include the under-employed or those who have quit looking or have fallen off of the UEC roles. In Washington, a bi-partisan jobs bill was created in the Senate committee and Harry Reid scuttled that plan. Why? Why are these people so content to watch Americans suffer while they go after a Health Care Plan that 67% of Americans don’t want? Why that?

TODAY’S QUERIES AND ANSWERS:
Q. I heard that the Administration is trying to shut down bloggers on the Internet. How can they do that? (Maggie ~ Verdi – NV)
A. They can’t. But, the word is that writers who post threatening blogs may be added to the Terrorist Watch List, which means they can’t fly. Who wants to fly, anyway? There are more hassles in flying today than ever before.

Q. You painted this picture of Obama putting his version of the Health Care Plan on the Internet on Monday and then having this “summit” on Thursday and then ramming his plan through a 51% majority of both Houses over next weekend and signing it by March 1st. I haven’t heard a word about the plan or its being posted Monday. (Frank ~ Princeton, NJ)
A. The White House announced it late Friday so that the brainless media wouldn’t pick up on it. The media takes weekends off, you know, because no news happens on weekends.

Q. I hear there’s been another murder in a cruise ship? (Tom ~ Cambria, CA)
A. There has been a 32-year old woman’s body found in a cabin on the Carnival Ecstasy. They’re doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. There’s no word yet on whether the woman was 32 years old, or the body has been there for 32 years.

OBAMA PLANS END-RUN ON HEALTH CARE

Word started wafting out of the White House on Thursday that Obama is planning the ultimate treacherous act on America, that of defying the American will. He has been secretly hammering away at the Health Care Bill he so desperately demands, and he plans to post it on the Internet Monday, February 22nd. The exact timing and planning for the February 25th “summit” is yet unclear, but Obama, Pelosi and Reid plan to have it through Congress with 51% votes in both Houses and signed by March 1st. And, the message is that there is nothing you or I can do to stop it.

COMMENTS:
You heard it from me on MY AMERICAN OPINION back on February 13th that this Health Care conference planned for February 25th was just a ruse. Once passed, Obama is fully prepared to veto any attempt by the next Congress to repeal it. If this scenario plays out as it appears it will be played, it constitutes a wide-open declaration of war by this Administration against the will of the people and against the principles upon which this country was founded. We need to be prepared to deal with it. Let’s pay close attention to what comes down Monday.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What is your opinion of Tiger Woods’ speech yesterday? (Seth ~ Sacramento, CA)
A. It took a lot of guts and courage and I would say that he now has his priorities straightened out. Whether or not he can get rid of the slice, (play on words intended), remains to be seen.

Q. Do you think there will be Social Security and/or Medicare cuts? (Bobbie ~ Las Vegas, NV)
A. I think there will be an attempt made. Although I agree that we cannot afford to go on this way, those now drawing Social Security have paid into the system for years on the expectation of payment. To now change that structure is a violation of contract and a violation of national trust. The proper answer is to phase Social Security out entirely over a period of decades. There are two points I need to make: (1) The government has indeed been “borrowing” from the Social Security pool for years, thereby speeding up its impending bankruptcy and (2) Had we followed the Bush plan to allow Social Security funds to be invested into the stock market by the “account holder,” a major portion of retirees would have gone under water last year.

Q. Just how serious do you think this situation with Iran really is? (Marguerita ~ Tucson, AZ)
A. Extremely serious.  As Barry Goldwater would have said, “It’s time for our President to shit, or get off the pot.” Please pass the Zig Zags?

INFLATION TAKES OFF AS JOBLESS NUMBERS SOAR

New reports out yesterday show that inflation rose on an annualized rate of almost 17% in December.  At the same time, new unemployment claims rose to over 470,000 last week, (that’s a rate of over 2,000,000 per month) and Administration figures show that only 95,000 jobs are being created per month, many of which are temporary.

COMMENTS:
In the meantime, Obama took to the cameras again to proclaim that his actions have saved the country and the recession is just about over. He evidently still needs a glass stomach so he can find his way around.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I heard about a coordinated global attack on computers yesterday. What’s the skinny? (Bob ~ Susanville, CA)
A. Preliminary reports are that the hacking "exposed vast amounts of personal and corporate secrets” and involved nearly 2,500 companies and government agencies over the last 18 months.
The hackers are centered in Europe and China, and have apparently absconded with loads of customer data and business intellectual property. Everything from credit card information to contracts and trade secrets appears to have been run off with. Evidently, they have had their own style of “stimulus plan.”

Q. What about that plane that crashed into an IRS building in Austin, Texas yesterday? Do you think it really could have been a terrorist act? (Gigi ~ Waco, TX)
A. Look at it this way. The odds of a plane having some kind of legitimate malfunction and crashing into an IRS office are extremely slim. That being said, it sounds more like a disgruntled ex-employee or taxpayer than a terrorist plot to me. If it had been a real terrorist, he probably would have loaded the luggage compartment with dynamite or some other highly explosive substance. He also posted a note on the Internet making it very clear that he had problems with the IRS. Nevertheless, look for Obama to make a statement that “the system worked just fine.”

Q. Now there is another looming catastrophe that involves pension funds? (Earlene ~ Dunsmuir, CA)
A. Yes. States may be forced to reduce benefits, raise taxes or slash government services or both to address a $1 trillion funding shortfall in public sector retirement benefits that is related to a decade's worth of bad policy decisions and declining investment incomes. It amounts to almost $9,000 for every household in the country, or at 2.5 persons per household, that would be $3,600 per person. Add that to the federal deficit share per person of $45,000 and you get the idea; we’ve all been royally screwed. I don’t know about you, but I never even had the chance to enjoy it. Good for Barack for having the audacity to smile and tell us that everything is okay now.

OBAMA CLAIMS STIMULUS PACKAGE SAVED THE COUNTRY

On the one-year anniversary of his stimulus package, the President yesterday said that his plan put 2 million people to work and prevented another Great Depression. To his critics who say the bill was a costly, debt-financed blunder that has not delivered on the promise of job creation, Obama suggested they take up the case with people who have stayed employed or have found help solely because he and the Democratic-run Congress acted.

COMMENTS:
He really needs a glass stomach so he can see his way around.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I heard that today’s history and other textbooks used in colleges and high schools glorify communists and Marxists and don’t tell the truth about the founding fathers and historical events. Can that be true, and if it is, why? (Jenny ~ Reno, NV)
A. Yes it is true. There are books that glorify Mao Tse Tung, Karl Marx, and Che Guevara being used this very day. One such book, “AMERICANS WHO TELL THE TRUTH,” is used in middle schools across the country. You need to get involved in your children's education and find out some of the ugly facts about the propaganda being fed to them as being legitimate fact. This country of ours is really being stripped away from us, and it’s time we did something about it besides whining.

Q. I hear that the health care plan being tossed around is now over 2,700 pages long and that Obama has issued instructions he will not start over with a new plan. That means anything coming out now will be over 3,000 pages long. Why does that have to be? (Bebe ~ Miami, FL)
A. You can’t conceal as much truth in a 100 page Bill as you can in a 3,000 page Bill.

Q. A year ago, Obama, Pelosi and Reid were asserting that their “Stimulus Bill” had to be passed and invested immediately… like it was a five alarm fire… or the country was going to go under. Now, I hear that over $500 billion of that money hasn’t been spent yet and they have no intention of paying it back into the treasury. What gives? (Tracy ~ Folsom, CA)
A. We were riding the stagecoach and they were wearing bandanas over their faces. The posse has yet to show up. Hopefully, they’ll show up by November. (P.S. Don’t forget to send in your taxes.)

MORTGAGE DELINQUENCIES SKYROCKET

They’re not talking about it, but the percentage of homeowners late with their mortgage payments hit another record during the last three months of 2009. The increase was much higher than expected. The latest report marked the 12th consecutive quarter — equal to three full years — that delinquency rates have risen from the previous year.

COMMENTS:
The Hermit has been warning for several months that mortgage foreclosures are going to rise dramatically in 2010. This bad news supports my contention, and commercial foreclosures are going to soar as well. This all means that banks and mortgage companies are in for another crisis. The underlying cause, of course, is that people are out of work and Washington has not yet addressed that problem; they want to get Obama’s Health Care Plan passed. I can see it now, millions of healthy Americans with no place to live. This is not funny.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What is causing all of Toyota’s problems? (Susie ~ Denver, CO)
A. They hired too many American auto execs to run their U.S. operations.

Q. I have a 1998 Jeep and I’m thinking about buying a new vehicle, but I’m worried about GM and Chrysler and now Toyota and I hate Fords. What do you think? (Spike ~ Menlo Park, CA)
A. Number one, I would not buy anything if you have to go into debt to buy it; the economy over the next 36 months at least will probably continue to be precarious. There are some real deals to be made on low-mileage used cars coming out of the rental and leasing business right now.

Q. How did we let our government become so big? (Jamie ~ Redding, CA)
A. We sat on our couches, drank beer, watched football and practically wrapped up our freedoms, liberties and powers of the people and let the bureaucrats have them. We are learning, hopefully not too late, that if we do not protect and exercise our powers that are reserved to the people, we will most certainly lose them.

ANOTHER INCUMBENT RUNS FOR THE HILLS

Another Member of Congress has announced that he will not seek reelection. Adding his name to a rapidly growing list of Republicans and Democrats, Indiana Senator Evan Bayh announced yesterday that he basically does not like what Congress has become and that he doesn’t want any more to do with it.

COMMENTS:
If they were smart, they’d all announce they’re not running again, because they are likely to get their clocks cleaned in the primaries or in November. They have collectively been doing a great disservice to America for years, and we are sick and tired of it. Please pass the TUMS.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Vice President Biden has sure been on the attack against former Vice President Cheney these last few days. You’d think they were both running for President. (Marion ~ Toledo, OH)
A. Not a chance. Biden’s too dumb and Cheney’s too smart.

Q. I hear that a climate scientist has come out and said that there has been no evidence of global warming for at least 15 years. What now? (LaVonne ~ San Jose, CA)
A. The White House will probably try to discredit him. I don’t think he is likely to be invited to any White House dinners, either. If Obama and Gore say there is global warming, then by God, there is global warming. Hand me a snow shovel, will you?

Q. The Iranian situation seems to be heating up. How do you think Hillary Clinton is doing? (Lee ~ Carmel, CA)
A. I’m certainly not a fan of Hillary Clinton, but I do have to say that I think she’s been doing a much better job than I expected and she’s doing it under tough circumstances. Kudus.

NEW YORK BREAKS OUT IN MUMPS

A mumps outbreak among Orthodox Jews in New York and New Jersey has passed 1,500 cases and is still climbing. The outbreak is the largest in the U.S. since 2006, when nearly 6,600 cases were reported. Mumps is spread by coughing and sneezing. Common symptoms are fever, headache and swollen glands. It is generally a mild disease, but can lead to complications such as hearing loss, meningitis and swollen testicles that can lead to sterility.

COMMENTS:

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What do you think the early Presidents, like Washington and Jefferson, would say about today’s government? (Benji ~ Chicago, IL)
A. They’re probably spinning in their graves.

Q. With all of the bad weather in the country, why hasn’t Burney had a worse winter? (Sally Anne ~ Johnson Park, CA)
A. Because this is where global warming is going to start.

Q. What is the story on the Tiger Woods matter lately? (Dale ~ Cottonwood, AZ)
A. Tiger seems to be making a concerted effort to save his marriage and his wife, Elin, seems to be responding. She put divorce plans on hold in late January. There has been a field day with jokes about Obama’s infidelities, but the Hermit has chosen not to join in. All couples have their problems, and we should respect their privacy. And, by the way, there is no truth to the rumor that Tiger is switching to the Mormon religion.

Bowing to harsh political criticism and a backlash from an incensed public, California’s Anthem Blue Cross has agreed to delay its scheduled March 1st rate hike to May 1st to allow California’s insurance gurus to verify the insurance giant’s claimed justification for the increases, in some cases topping 39%.

COMMENTS:
In the middle of a national uproar over the soaring high costs of health care, Anthem appears to be playing right into the hands of Obama, Pelosi and Reid as they try to shove a single-payer government run plan down our throats. One would almost think they are in cahoots with those desperados. Anyone who continues to do business with firms like this should have their heads examined. Even AARP got the message; they’ve launched an all-out telephone campaign trying to up- sell existing customers and to retrieve business lost over their pro-government-plan stance. This all goes to show that we, the people, still wield awesome power; our sights are set on Congress.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. How did Valentine’s Day get started? (Eunice ~ Cape Cod, MA)
A. Al Gore invented it as a way to increase flower growing and thereby reduce global warming.

Q. What happened with the Swine Flu scare? (Garfield ~ Pittsburgh, PA)
A. Thanks to Obama’s Health Care Plan, the Swine Flu has been eradicated. There will be a ceremony at Blair House in Washington on February 25th to which all kinds of Washington swine have been invited to celebrate. Cracked pig’s feet on ice will be served for hors d’ oeuvres.

Q. Sometimes I can’t tell whether you are being serious or sarcastic. (Kitty ~ Mound House, NV)
A. Neither can I.

MUSLIMS PROTEST AIRPORT SCANNERS

The Fiqh Council of North America, A group of Muslim scholars, says it supports airline safety, but it is "deeply concerned" about the use of airport scanners that show nude images of the human body as they are against the teachings of Islam, natural law and all religions and cultures that stand for decency and modesty.

COMMENTS:
The simple answer to them is, “Then quit flying.” I’ll be damned if I will risk MY safety to protect THEIR religion.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Did I hear that Obama might ask to raise taxes for everyone? How can he do that after he promised not to? (Myrtle ~ Biloxi, MS)
A. You didn’t believe him just because he said it 50 times, did you?

Q. Did you see the pictures of that idiot with a baseball bat who was bashing TV’s? Why do people do these things? (Marty ~ Oildale, CA)
A. He probably just heard the news that there is a secret plan to enact the Health Care Plan as it currently exists, (See MY AMERICAN OPINION).

Q. Do. I understand that Osama Bin Laden’s son could be worse than he is? (Latoya ~ Phoenix, AZ)
A. Reports are that he and his followers are far more radical and militant than his estranged father, Osama. That should be enough of a reason to let Osama continue to go free?

IRAN THREAT FIZZLES

The short shrimp with a big mouth, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, promised that the West would be dealt a big blow yesterday, but nothing happened.

COMMENTS:
Yes it did. The whole world stopped and waited for a shoe to drop. That’s the way terrorism works; they make you fearful.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I heard that only 26% of Americans like the job that Congress is doing. When will Congressional members get the message? (Vince ~ Truckee, CA)
A. Actually, a new Gallup poll has the figure at 18%. Maybe that’s why more and more Republicans and Democrats are choosing not to run again.

Q. It must be a major shock to their systems and egos when Presidents leave the White House. How do they cope? (Marvis ~ Klamath Falls, OR)
A. By and large, former Presidents have been very active in giving speeches and working on charitable projects. It may not be 24/7 anymore, and most of the intense stress is gone, but they’re still very much in demand. I would imagine that President Obama is looking forward to going back to work for ACORN.

Q. There’s been a major push for President Obama to fire a lot of his people. Do Presidents ever respond to such pressures? (Ginny ~ Yuma, AZ)
A. In my memory, I can’t think of any, except where the object of such criticism has royally screwed up. I think they justifiably feel that having to fire someone is an indication that they made a mistake in hiring them in the first place, and no President likes to admit mistakes. Since Obama has never made a mistake, he doesn’t have to worry about that problem. Please pass the gray poop on.

9TH CIRCUIT COURT UPHOLDS GUN BAN AGAINST FELONS

The 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides for the right for citizens to bear arms. A three-time convicted felon from California was arrested in Fresno while in possession of a .38 caliber pistol. To make a long story short, he asserted his 2nd Amendment rights and the 9th Circuit Appeals Court has upheld the conviction against him.

COMMENTS:
I’m a life member of the NRA. I 100% agree with the 2nd Amendment. I also agree with the Court ruling.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. China is now barking orders to the United States? (Felix ~ Hollister, CA)
A. Yes and, if the financial situation were reversed, we’d be barking orders to them. Unfortunately,, our national leaders are the ones who have put us in the dog house. Bark, Bark.

Q. In terms of national defense, do you think Obama is a good President? (Amy ~ Davis, CA)
A. No. He’s even worse than Jimmy Carter. He's made some very dumb moves.

Q. Do you honestly think that getting rid of the incumbents in Washington will make things better? (Pauline ~ St. George, UT)
A. Yes. It is time for us to assert our ownership of this government.  Well, on second thought, if we let the incumbents take ownership, then they will be the ones who have to pay off China, right?

ANTHEM BLUE CROSS JACKS UP CALIFORNIA

Anthem Blue Cross of California has told its policyholders to expect premium increases of 30% up to 39%.

COMMENTS:
I would say that if you are upset about their public display of testicles, you would be well-advised to cancel all business you do with them and any of their subsidiaries. And, if you own stock in them, sell it. Don’t get mad; get even.

TODAY’S QUERIES &ANSWERS:
Q. Do you feel better about Obama, now that he’s reaching out to Republicans? (Rodger ~ Detroit, MI)
A. No. Look at his history of saying one thing and doing another. Look at his history, Reid’s history, Pelosi’s history of hiding the facts and manipulating the truths, particularly with respect to health care. Remember the promises they made to take things out of the bill, only to leave them in as they added another 500 pages to it here and there. Remember Pelosi’s statement to the effect she doesn’t care what they have to do, they will get it done. Obama can’t be trusted; his word has proven itself to be worthless. When he looks you in the eye and tells you that he wants Congress to confirm his nominees and, should they fail to do so, he will name them to their posts during the Congressional recess this summer, that is to say he doesn’t consider Congressional wishes or votes to be relevant. So, why is he saying the things he is saying? For the same reason he denied ever knowing Ayers. For the same reason he denied listening to Wright’s sermons. For the same reason he says Washington needs to quit hiring lobbyists when he has 30 on his payroll. His philosophical outlook on life can best be summed up in two words: “Up yours.”

Q. You were right in saying that the health care bill was not dead. I can’t believe the audacity of these people. (Manessa ~ Oxnard, CA)
A. The proper answer is to not let any one of them past the primaries. Vote them out in the primaries.

Q. What do you think President Obama is going to do about Iran? (Vaughn ~ Layton, UT)
A. I halfway think that he hopes Iran will pull some dirty deed so that everyone will get their minds off of his health care plan; I actually think he’s that obsessed with it.

COMPUTERS HACKED!

On the inside of personal computers, there is a special chip that provides security to millions of computers. With this chip and computing encryption, government agencies around the world keep our national secrets safe and businesses keep our personal information secure. But, a former U.S. Army computer-security specialist has devised a way to break those locks. The attack can force even heavily secured computers to release documents presumed to be safe. This discovery shows one way that spies and other richly financed attackers can acquire military and trade secrets, comes as worries about state-sponsored computer espionage intensify, and follows a White House directive to national security agencies to cut China some technological slack.

COMMENTS:
Once again, the media is doing us the big favor of keeping the big news of the day to themselves. Maybe they should be in charge of national security, because they’re certainly not cluing us in on much.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I see the stock market is below 10,000 again. (Damon ~ Fairfax, VA)
A. Unfortunately, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. I believe that, if you’re not out of the market right now, you should be. By that, I don’t mean standing out in front of Wal-Mart, either…

Q. The Tea Party had a big convention over the weekend and not many of the major networks had any news about it. How come? (Dixie ~ Chula Vista, CA)
A. America’s news reporters and left-wing media outlets are not particularly fond of the Tea Party movement. But, with the number of both Democrats and Republicans getting involved, the movement is not going to dry up and blow away, as Mr. Obama would prefer. He can have his Progressives and we will have our Tea Party. And, if the Tea Party has its way, the end to “Politics as Usual” is indeed on the way. I sent them some money on Saturday.

Q. The crime trend in the United States is going down. Do you have any idea why? (Kirk ~ Barstow, CA)
A. More and more private citizens are buying guns and ammo, and they're learning how to use them.

IRAN STEPS UP URANIUM ENRICHMENT

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ordered Iran’s atomic agency to begin enriching uranium to a higher level. The latest pronouncement regarding enriched uranium coincides with a call Sunday by U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates for the international community to add more sanctions to pressure Iran into abandoning its nuclear program.

COMMENTS:
Sanctions didn’t work with Iraq. Sanctions have yet to work with Iran. The continuing attempt at sanctions as an answer to a lunatic only prolong the inevitable and provide them with an opportunity to achieve their goal of being able to deliver a nuke to Israel. Once they reach that capability, are we then going to all sashay out to the White House lawn and have matzo ball soup and beer and talk about it? Hey! Mahmoud! You with the rag on your head! Want a Reuben sandwich to go with that?

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What did you think of the game? (Sharon ~ Raleigh, NC)
A. Where’s O.J. Simpson when you need him?

Q. Now I hear that Obama may go ahead and order the 9/11 KSM trials to be in New York City after all. Why? (Lorraine ~ Seattle, WA)
A. Because Obama wants his way, and the American public has no sway. Why this is HIS decision and not a military decision, I’ll never know.

Q. Is Eric Holder on thin ice? (Chaz ~ Los Angeles, CA)
A. Yes. He’ll leave right after Barack Obama.

ACORN RIDES AGAIN?

ACORN could be eligible for up to $3.99 billion in federal funding included in the $3.83 trillion fiscal 2011 budget President Obama unveiled last week! The money comes from a Congressional slush fund known as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. CDBG grants, which are awarded to states and localities, pass indirectly to ACORN.  On Dec. 8 the House Appropriations Committee rejected on a party line vote of 9 to 5 an amendment offered by Rep. Tom Latham (R-Iowa) that would have blocked federal funding of ACORN. And in December federal Judge Nina Gershon restored federal funding of ACORN by issuing a temporary injunction against the congressional funding ban.

COMMENTS:
What do you suppose Barack Hussein Obama, former ACORN attorney, might have to do with this?

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Do you even watch the half-time of a Super Bowl game? (Nina ~ Peru, IN)
A. With all of those people watching the game, I suspect Obama will want to preempt half-time with something to say. He just has to have his ugly mug in front of us every minute of the day, doesn’t he?

Q. Is Eric Holder now on board to move the terrorist trials out of New York? (Thad ~ Fort Worth, TX)
A. No. In fact, he lays the blame for the backlash on Rudy Giuliani and says Rudy has been squawking only for the purpose of making a political issue out of it. Well, it IS a political issue and we know who started it, don’t we Barack?

Q. There are more signs of economic recovery. Can’t we draw a deep breath? (Cyrus – New London, CT)
A. What the media has NOT been reporting is that big, big trouble is brewing overseas. Greece is on the verge of total economic collapse, for example. Many major countries have debt loads approaching 100% of their Gross Domestic Product. Moody’s is threatening to downgrade the U.S. credit rating. Things are very, very fragile and the whole house of cards could come crumbling down at any moment. It is actually getting worse rapidly, instead of better as Tim Geithner would like us to believe.

UNEMPLOYMENT DOWN .3% ~ UP 1.2 MILLION

That’s right… Unemployment dropped from 10.0% to 9.7% last month and the number of people unemployed went UP by 1.2 million.

COMMENTS:
The fuzzy math coming out of this administration never ceases to amaze me. They’ll come out one day with great positive numbers about something and run around yelling that the recession is over and Obama’s plan is working, then they’ll quietly revise the figures a few days later and not say a word to a soul. It’s called misinformation and disinformation. Confuse and obfuscate. Lie and cheat. That we know of, over 14 million people are now out of work. The average length of unemployment right now is seven months! What are they going to eat for dinner, Obama’s Transparency Special? "Duh, well, there may be more people out of work, but so many have quit looking for work that fewer are unemployed as a percentage of the work force." Horse crap, fellahs. If fewer people are looking for work, then the total in the workforce has declined and the percentage they say is “unemployed” goes UP.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. There’s a town in Pennsylvania that’s been burning for 48 years? (Melody ~ East Wendover, UT)
A. Centralia was a coal mining town and the coal caught fire in 1962 and still burns underground. They’re finally chasing the last residents out. You’d think with all of the global warming that the fire is causing, Al Gore and the EPA would have the fire out by now, wouldn’t you?

Q. The Cheesecake Factory makes the country’s worst sandwich? What’s that all about? (Reggie ~ Orem, UT)
A. Men’s Health rates the Cheesecake Factory Grilled Shrimp & Bacon Club sandwich at 1930 calories, 24g saturated fat and 2,965mg sodium and says it’s the worst sandwich for you. Thank God they didn’t check out my famous chill-cheese dog with fries.

Q. Do you think the American Tea Party will play a big role in the November elections? (Rochester ~ Richmond, CA)
A. Yes. By December, we’ll all be having tea and crumpets. I sure wish I owned a moving company in Washington, D.C. Maybe Harry and Nancy can share a moving van and save money?

LANDRIEU PERFORMS POLITICAL WEASEL DANCE

Faced with increasing political push-back over her agreement to cave in on the Health Care Bill in exchange for $300 million in special federal aid to Louisiana, Mary Landrieu has come forward to defend herself by saying that she would never throw Louisiana under the bus to further her own political ambitions.

COMMENTS:
Horse shit,

(And may God bless politicians and everything they stand for. Oh... Amen, and God Save the Queen.)

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I heard that a Senate Finance Committee is starting to ask questions about where all of the TARP and “stimulus” money is being spent and where all of the other money went? (Sandee ~ Lincoln, CA)
A. I don’t know why they’re so interested now, after 50 or 60 years of not caring where our money goes. Besides, why learn now? They’re all going to be gone after November, anyway.

Q. So, we’re sending Pandas back to China? (Annamarie ~ Las Vegas, NV)
A. Get the message?  China is already starting to call in their U.S. loans.

Q. Now I hear that Speaker Pelosi is running around saying they don’t care what it takes or how much resistance the people put up, they’re going to get their Health Care Plan passed anyway? (Tyler ~ Yuma, AZ)
A. I don’t think she realizes how unhealthy it is for her to go around talking like that. She’d be much better off sitting in a corner someplace, with a dunce cap on her head.  I know that it's not politically correct to speak of "Her Highness" in that manner, so let me apologize for her uppityiness in advance.

OBAMA VS. AIG

Obama vocalized his displeasure over AIG’s dispensing of more than $100 million in bonuses to top employees yesterday, thereby displaying to the business world his total lack of understanding about what makes America tick.

COMMENTS:
He’s wrong on at least two counts. Number one, the guy forked over OUR money to AIG because they were “too big to fail.” That’s mistake number one, and a big one at that. What he doesn’t understand in America is that NO company is too big to fail, and no President is too smart to fail, either. Number two, the insurance business is built on employee bonuses, just like any other sales-oriented business. As an employee, you don’t make a whole bunch of money until you sell a whole bunch of insurance. Get rid of the bonuses and you get rid of the sales staff and down go sales and…then the business that is too big to fail, fails.

I felt we made a terrible mistake when we bailed AIG out, and I feel that every day that goes by with Obama’s continued demonstration of his lack of understanding the fundamentals of business is another day that I don’t want to hire an employee or two, because I don’t know if he is totally going to change the rules of business tomorrow and I don't want to take the risk of being screwed by one of his "progressive" ideas.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Do you think Obama’s special fund to create loans for the small businessman is going to create more jobs? (Carlene ~ Las Vegas, NV)
A. No. We’ve all seen how he used the federal loans to take control of banks, automakers and insurance companies. After working as hard as I’ve worked at my business, I’ll be damned if I will willingly put myself in a position where Obama or Reid or Pelosi could tell me how many light bulbs I can use. They can keep my damned money, I don't want to borrow it back.

Q. Why does Obama keep talking down to people as if they are dummies? (Chip ~ Ventura, CA)
A. We ARE dummies. We got ourselves into this mess, didn’t we? We allowed the circumstances with which we are now faced to happen because we were too lazy to keep ourselves informed about what is going on in Washington, didn’t we? Hi. I’m Howdy Doody. What’s YOUR name?

Q. Why did they fire the CEO of Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills, California? (Britt – Cassel, CA)
A. Newspapers will never get the whole story, and neither side will ever totally come clean. This I do know: The Board of Directors runs through CEO’s like water. Therefore, they either don’t know a damned thing about the medical business, or they think they do and want to micromanage. No good CEO worth his or her salt wants to be micromanaged. If the Board knows so much, what do they need a CEO for in the first place? Oh, I forgot. Politicians, (the Board is elected), always have to have someone they can blame for their own mistakes, don’t they?

OAKLAND CONSIDERS GUN LAW

The city of Oakland, California, is considering a new gun law that would require special licensing for ammunition dealers and that buyers provide a thumbprint. This law mimmicks a state law that takes effect in 2011. Chip Johnson, in a San Francisco Chronicle opinion, said that the sale of guns and ammunition across the country have contributed to the loss of life across the nation.

COMMENTS:
As the sale of guns and ammo have soared over the last 18 months, the number of crimes involving guns and ammo have dramatically decreased. On that basis alone, the argument is invalidated. On the other side of the coin, if the proposed law is enacted, the criminals will just buy their ammo in Richmond, or Reno. The opinion is correct in that criminals cause gun crime, so it seems to me that the answer is to round up the criminals instead of going after those of us who own guns, contribute to the public safety, and don’t cause crime.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I am so, so afraid about the national debt and what it means for our grandkids. How can we stop this unbalanced budget? (Mary ~ Laughlin, NV)
A. We have two choices: (1) enact an amendment to the Constitution that requires a balanced budget, or (2) throw all of the bums out of office. I recommend we do both.

Q. What is a serpentine belt? (Gladys ~ Montgomery, AL)
A. It’s the belt on your car engine that keeps snakes and other politicians from infesting your fuel injection system.

Q. If we cut government spending, aside from a cut in services, doesn’t that mean higher unemployment? (Benny ~ Corvalis, OR)
A. Possibly. It depends on where you make the cuts. If you just cut out the waste, probably not. Take Medicare for example. The doctor gets paid for each visit you make. Medicare pays so low per visit, that the doctor is inclined to have you come back two or three times. Why not increase the amount per visit and then put a maximum number of visits for the same treatment? I think we’d really cut costs that way and think of the gas it would save. We might just solve the nation’s energy problems!

OBAMA’S LAST STRAW?

President Obama announced yesterday what could be the straw that breaks the proverbial camel’s back. His record $3.8 billion budget for 2011 comes on the heels of his remarks about “runaway deficit spending.” In making his announcement, he cited the need for jobs as an immediate priority.

COMMENTS:
President Obama has been giving mere lip service to job creation for a year now, asking for and getting budget-busting legislation passed for stimulus and “American Recovery Act” programs that have not yet proven effective. This budget, if passed, will not go into effect for another five months, meaning that any money being spent for the creation of jobs will not get into the pipeline until fall at the earliest. The President has not proposed any immediate positive steps to alleviate the fear and stress of the unemployed or the under-employed. Every time he says that spending is “unsustainable,” you need to grab your wallet because you know that the following day he’s going to be on prime-time TV looking for another trillion or two dollars to spend. ENOUGH ALREADY!  (And I thought Bush picked my wallet clean.....)

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I heard the FBI shot a Detroit Muslim 20 times? (Yousef ~ Los Angeles, CA)
A. Yes, last October they shot an Imam alleged to be urging his followers to create violence against Americans, as he pulled a gun on them. If I had been there under the circumstances, he would have been shot 30 times.

Q. Internet crimes are skyrocketing? (Brent ~ Sunnyvale, CA)
A. Yes. Keep your security software up-to-date; I don’t mean an annual update, either; your software should be coming at you several times a week with updates. I turn my computer off at night. Be very careful when you go to open emails from Wachovia, Bank of America, Fed-Ex, and the like. Change your passwords, and I strongly recommend at least 8 characters with a mix of numbers and alpha characters and some in upper case. If you are on a site doing financial transactions, don’t just close the webpage when you are done, sign off first. If your operating system or other software has updates, download them and install them because they are usually fixes for ways hackers have discovered to get into your computer. Finally, keep a gun handy.

Q. What’s this I hear about state governments rushing to pass legislation to prevent Obama-care from requiring citizens to have health insurance? (Ginger ~ Springfield, IL)
A. More than two-thirds of the states are forging ahead with constitutional amendments to ban government health insurance mandates. Obama may have to order the Supreme Court to overrule them.

TROUBLE BREWING ON THE STOCK MARKET?

The month of January saw higher-than-expected stock sales and a 3.5% drop on the Dow, although many major companies posted much higher-than-expected profits. The drop on the Dow was the largest since the middle of the bear market last year. "Consumers are struggling, unemployment is high and people aren't able to use their homes to raise money," says Dennis Delafield, co-manager of the $700 million Delafield Fund. "Growth will be moderate and investors are worried."

COMMENTS:
I’ve been warning of more problems to come for several months. I think the unemployment figures are now going to rise dramatically. Businessmen still are afraid to hire due to the uncertainties involved with an unresolved Health Care Plan and taxes. Retail sales have not shown a sustained increase that would put pressure on employers to hire. The number of houses that are about to enter the foreclosure process is horrendous. The banks obviously feel the same way, because they are still not lending.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. You’ve been quiet about the economy lately. Is that because the Recovery Act is actually stimulating the economy? (Krissy ~ Tuscaloosa, AL)
A. Gross domestic product is up and that certainly an indicator. But, too many other indicators are still bad, such as unemployment. The Obama cronies are ballyhooing about all of the new projects they have been attending ground-breaking ceremonies for, but 95% of those projects were already funded and would have been done anyway, except projects like the turtle tunnel in Florida.

Q. With the Democrats having control of both Houses and the Presidency, why didn’t they just go ahead and ram the health care plan through, as we all expected they would? (Steve ~ Alta Loma, CA)
A. Because they knew the public was ready to storm Washington and literally… I mean literally… throw them out. And under those circumstances, of course, they would never be able to return home, either. With Ted Kennedy already turning over in his grave, they figured they had better cut their losses.

Q. With the November elections just a few months away, who are the standout leaders in the Republican Party? (Clarissa ~ Philadelphia, PA)
A. Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.
